Galaxy S4 Bluetooth/GM car issue

I have a 2012 Chevy Equinox and a new Galaxy S4. I have paired the phone and the car and can receive incoming calls just fine. When I try to make an outgoing call, I get the phone/car link up but can't use the dial or call commands. The phone doesn't recognize a contact name, and instead displays some seemilgly random numbers or else it just disconnects. My old flip phone worked fine with the car, and the S4 seems to work OK in my wife's car (Lincoln).

Any ideas?

I understand the importance and convenience of hands-free capabilities, especially while driving! I would like to help.

Have you tested your bluetooth feature on your Galaxy S 4 with a different bluetooth device or headset? Does it work properly? See this chart for bluetooth compatibility with different auto manufacturers: http://vz.to/1e5Fk3j. I recommend removing and readding the bluetooth connection in your vehicle's bluetooth menu. See your vehicle manual for instructions. Let us know how this works out for you. Thanks!

no luck. I took the car to the dealer the radio system Bluetooth works fine, but the phone still doesn't allow outgoing calls.

Any other ideas?

I have unpaired and re-paired the phone from the vehicle system. I have also reset the vehicle system per GM Tech support instructions (turn off the vehicle and open the driver's door wide for 90 seconds, then wait 3 or 4 minutes to re-start).

I also pulled the battery from the Galaxy S4 for a minute or so. The results are the same. The link up appears to recognize the phone and vice versa but when I give a voice command such as "dial" or "call Joe", the vehicle system waits 3-4 seconds and says "thank you, good bye" and breaks the connection, as if it never "heard" the command.

While I am in the vehicle, I am able to manually dial a number from the phone and it plays through the vehicle speaker system, and incoming calls can be answered through the vehicle system. I have also been able to load my contacts from the Galaxy S4 to the GM MY Link system.

Is there a setting on the phone I have missed?

Does this appear to be a problem with other S4/Chevy/GM owners?
