Galaxy S4 Charging Issues

About 3 months after I got my Galaxy S4 it started saying "Connect to original charger" and at the time it was connected to the original charger. So I switched chargers and that worked for a while.. then last night it said the same thing.. and it was connected tot he charger I have been using for the past 3 months. I switched to two different chargers and It finally started to charge and then stopped again. It died completely and when I tried to plug it in it vibrated but would not turn on. Then this morning I tried to plug it into the car charger and that worked and it is now charging plugged into my USB in my computer. I am concerned this is going to keep happening and I have heard of other Galaxy S$ owners having the same problem, where it says connect to original charger and you are connected to the original charger. I have insurance... Do I need to replace my phone?

This is quite the issue that you are having. Which I am shocked by actually. I love the Galaxy S4. Let's get you back on track. Do you see any kind of damage inside the charging port on the device? Is there any kind of lint or anything built up in the port? Any kind of physical or liquid damage to the device? I am glad that you have insurance but if there is no physical or liquid damage to the phone you can get the phone replaced under the warranty at no cost to you. Please keep us posted.

I have had my galaxy s4 since November. Since then I have been thru 4 chargers. Also after the update my text constantly fail and won't send. Suggestions please!

Never fear help is here! 4 chargers in less then a year is definitely too many. What specific issues are you having with the chargers?
In regards to the text message issues, is this happening with every text message? Are you getting an error message when trying to send them? Are you using the messaging app that was preinstalled or a 3rd party messaging app?

I will buy a new charger and it will work for a month or so then just quit. Saying use the charger that came with the phone. Which I have been using samsung chargers. The messages happen mostly when I am home. . Which is the same place I have lived for the past 4 years and I've never had a service issuue. I get a notification saying it will send the message as soon as their is mobile network.

That's certainly odd, Hmp2014. Does the error message that's receive halt the charge?
Are you able to use other services when messages fail to send? ( voice and data )

I miss several calls and end up with voicemails. I am using the stock messaging app also.

Thank you for the insight. It's greatly appreciated. What zip code are you located in? Does it only occur inside the home? Do you see any improvement after a SIM card pull?

Thanks for the info! No trouble found in this area. Since it appears you have taken most troubleshooting steps, we may need to look into replacing the device. Does it have any physical/liquid damage? Do you know if the device is still covered under warranty?

No it does not. I have had it in an otterbox box since I purchased it. It should have warranty. I haven't even had it a year

I'm happy your phone is still under warranty hmp2014 and there is no damage. The otterbox is an awesome accessory. We can replace the device with a certified like new phone of the same model if still under the 1year warranty. It can be done over the phone, at the store, here or through social media.

hmp2014 ... they are asking you to Follow them here in the forum, but from the posts, I'm not sure which, if any, of the reps have sent you a Follow request. If they've sent you one, it will be in your forum Inbox. You'll then need to send them a Follow request by hovering over their user name, i.e.,

and clicking the Follow button; they'll then need to approve that Follow request. Once you both are Following each other, then you can send them a Direct Message by again hovering over their user name and choosing Message.
