So, I forgot to pay a bill online, and Verizon suspended service (without warning). Went online, paid the bill right away. My wife's iPhone4 turned right back on. My S4 wouldn't connect. over 3 days I called verizon / did chat, they had me cycle the phone and remove the sim card about 50 times, finally they asked me to restore to default settings. I did, then it couldn't activate. So after being on the phone for 30 min, chat for 50min, then on the phone for 1 HOUR and 20 min, i finally end up with a phone worse off then when I had called. The tech support woman was helpful at first, but her tone changed when she realized that she just bricked my phone. Told me that it needs to be replaced under warranty, but Best Buy wont, cause the screen has been cracked for over 7 months. This issue has nothing to do with the crack on the screen. Since I literally have a $0 budget to replace my phone, it was suggested to suspend my service for 3 months to save the $90 bucks I'll be paying for a non working phone, then spend $300 bucks to replace it with a lower model.... that was the best they could offer. ?!??!??!!??! REALLY?
I feel like i have no choice but to suspend my service, unless someone in the community has a phone they can give me?

Ok first things first
1. What is the status of your phone? ON, OFF, or Cant turn it on.
2, When you say "cycle the phone" exactly what did you do.
3. When you say "restore to default settings", exactly what did you do and what was the results.
Two and three mean different things to different people so just getting a clarification.

I can turn on the phone.
What I mean by cycle is power off the phone, then turn it back on. Several times, per tech instructions, I also removed the sim card and put it back in.... the same way it was.
when i restored default settings i went to settings>accounts>Backup and reset>Factory Data Reset.
.... since i posted this, after 20min of looking to register via the moble network, it finally asked me to register through wi-fi. So the phone now loads to the OS, but still no mobile network.

Since your phone now loads the OS I understand that to mean the phone is up and running and everything works except for no mobile network which would keep you from making calls and texting. Make sure the mobile network setting is CDMA/LTE and not Global. Try the sim card removal again, couldn't hurt, make sure the gold contacts go in first face down. I will take a few minutes for a network connection to complete. If this doesn't work try a new sim card, they are free from a corporate store.
