I don't carry phone while doing physical tasks. Granddaughter picked it up and instead of the original desktop with a current local weather app showing, there is in its place, Instagram. How do I ditch Instagram and get back the weather info?

I have the Galaxy S4 and like Horses 547 said, long press on the Instagram icon and when you see the trash can appear at the top of the screen, drag Instagram to it. Follow the instructions below to add the weather/time icon back to your home screen:
1) Press the Menu button
2) Select the top choice "+ Add apps and widgets" by touching it
3) If you see your apps on this screen touch the tab at the top of the screen that says Widgets
4) Scroll to the left until you see the "Weather 4 x 2" widget (on my phone it on the next to the last screen, your location may be different).
5) Touch the icon and hold until your home screen shows in the background
6) Drag the weather icon to the top of the home screen and release

I don't have that phone, but you probably long click on the app you want to remove and drag it to trash. Then, go to your apps drawer and long click on the app you want to put on the desktop.
