Verizon Galaxy S4 DOES NOT do "screen mirroring" at all

Has anyone had it working with smart TV?

I have NEW Samsung smart LED TV (Series 7) and it offers Screen Mirroring as on of the source.

I Tried my new Samsung S4 to the screen mirroring with this TV, and it does not work at all.

Under Settings-> Connections-> Screen mirroring, it scans for long time

and comes back with the message "Device not found"  (which is my smart TV)

So I went to bestbuy, where they have Samsung Help kiosk, and

I have seen T-Mobile & ATT&T phone working just fine with Samsung SmartTV

I contacted Verizon, samsung support for this matter,

Samsung TV division says I dont need a DONGLE for streaming

all smart TVs Dont need a dongle at all

Verizon support keep convincing me to buy a Samsung ALLShare hub Dongle (which I dont thing I needed)

I think I had to turn something on on the TV to get it to work. Then It asked if I would allow it then It worked so you might want to check. If I remember I will look it up on the TV tonight and respond.

Thanks for confirming this. That's what I have been telling Verizon, they are just not listening to me

Support guy promised to call back , he never did, their customer service is not so great.

Thanks again , let me know if you know What to invoke from TV side other

than switch source to "Screen Mirroring" mode.

I forgot to look: But Lets go through a few things.

Your TV:

1) Is it plugged into your Home Network (Does is have a IP)

2) if not you may need to turn on DirectWiFi mode for the TV

Your Mobile:

1) Are you on WIFI on the same network as your TV

2) Wifi Needs to be on and you may need to config Direct Wifi

I have turned on Under Settings | Nearby Devices file sharing when I was setting this up....It's turn off now but I can still screen mirror. On the TV. When you first try the TV should ask if you wish to allow this access...make sure you say yes....I hope I have sent you in the right direction. (I recommend staying away from DirectWiFi as it turns off Network access for streaming on the TV while your connected to it...)

Not home right now, but will check when I get back, meanwhile...

My tv is connected to my home wireless network, and configured while set it up during first time setup.

Phone is also connected  to same wireless and WiFi is turned on.

I even turned the FileSharing ON , just in case.

Wondering if there is something in TV that needs to be Activated/ON.

I will update this when I get home.

Thanks Mike

FYI: I found on C-NET and based on the firmware info about that this may be true is your Samsung TV a ES7050 or a F7050 ES being a 2012 Model and F being a 2013 model. Apparently Screen Mirroring only works on 2013 Models does not include 2011 & 2012 models...

Thanks Mike, 2012 model could be the reason, b/w I have returned that TV last night, Now I am thinking going with Sony W900A (Latest) model. This tv does not need be on the same network to do the screen mirroring.

IS that one of the New 4x HD TV's what do you think. I usually find Samsung to be a awesome display. I have Sony, RCA, And Samsung at home and generally prefer the Samsung over everything else...

No , its one level below Ultra HD (4k). Not that I am JUST sony fan, I like samsung too. but I noticed that samsung TV has bland picture vs sony, this is just my observation.

I still have 3 Sony HDs, but I just wanted latest bells & whistles.

You mentioned that you have a "7100" and I also have an UN60ES7100 (2013 model), but I cannot get the Screen Mirroring to work with my S4 (it doesn't detect the TV when scanning).

I updated to the latest firmware on the TV and the latest firmware on the phone with no luck. I've gone through the "Direct WiFi" method, tried Bluetooth, turning on File Sharing, turning on Soft AP, tried everything that I can think of with no luck. (They are both on the same WiFi at home).

However, I have been able to get YouTube to stream from controlling via my S4, but that's not "screen mirroring".

When I go to AllShare Settings on the TV, there is nothing there. Just a blank screen saying nothing is configured/linked... without any choices.

Is there a particular app that needs to be installed on the TV? Is there a particular screen the TV should be on when trying to enable screen mirroring from the phone? You supposed to initiate the screen mirror from the phone, correct?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
