Galaxy S5 Battery Issues, Screen Numbers going to blocks and Overall Sluggish

I have noticed this for a while now but it is getting ridiculous. I know folks have issues with Battery since the updates but I am also having major issues with the phone being overall sluggish (and I have not installed any new apps, etc...in fact I have deleted/removed them as my phone is so bad) as opening anything is slow, changing screens, etc. Is anyone else having this issue?

Also, I have an annoying issue as over time the lock screen where you have the numbers show up to put in your password...overtime they slowly start to turn into white blocks on my screen and you can't see them. The spots are there and you can unlock your phone but you have to know the numbers in order to do it as all you will see are white boxes where the numbers and letters should be. Anyone else seeing this?

Anyone have any tricks to fixing all the issues other than a factory reset and the pain of doing that?

Honestly it sounds like a factory reset is whats going to be best for you. The sluggish won't go away. I too have gone through and deleted files to clear up more Ram, deleted apps, cleared cache and data for just about everything and still if I click Message+ it can take 3-5 seconds for it to open, and I rely now on the other person to end the phone call because it has a delay of 5 to 10 seconds when I try to hang up. I clearly need to do a factory reset, but use my phone for work so I'm just kind of waiting to see when 5.1 comes out.

Thanks MiiHere. I use mine for work as well so battling the same dilemma you are in trying to wait it out. Lets hope it is sooner than later for us!

On the plus side it really helps me work on my patience; sitting and staring at a blank screen while things load. #firstworldproblems

I just want to echo this issue...we are having the exact same problems here at my work, currently 20 Galaxy S5 phones and all have terrible battery drain and numbers blocking out since the 5.0 update. Before, they were running great with no issues. I have seen quite a few posts about the same issues, it would be nice for Verizon to at least acknowledge that there is a problem and try to fix it. Hard reset is NOT an option for us.

They know of the issue and the best way to resolve it is a hard reset, which I see is a no go. The only other option is to spend time sorting through your phone, deleting apps, clearing cache, clearing data, restarting, etc etc. Which would take longer than the hard reset, but might be worth it for some of you.

MiiHere - resets hard or soft do not fix this permanently. The scripted answer from Verizon support is to hard reset (which just gets you to go away for a while before the problem comes back). Many people have tried removing all apps, factory resets, hard resets - they are are all temporary. The problem returns and on all Samsung's with the v5 Lollipop upgrade. This is a bug in the OS and needs to be fixed by Samsung. The only workaround is a reboot to give yourself a few days with real numbers on your lock screen until the fix is pushed out. If you hard or factory reset you are only going to piss off the customer because they loose all their settings for no benefit.
