Galaxy S5 red verizon screen only when using google maps

I am having this issue only when using google maps. My phone will work with the maps for a bit. It then turns to the red verizon screen and makes me start all over. This can occur mutliple time in the same trip.

Have you reached out to the app developer to see if this is a known issue with their app? Also, have you tried uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it yet?
