Galaxy S5 sending text message failed

I just got my new Galaxy s5 two days ago. Frequently, text messages seem to hang for a long period of time in the "sending" status. Then I get an error message that says the message failed to send. When I check with the recipient, they usually say they did receive the message. Sometimes they say they received the same message three times.
I cannot see a pattern for when these failures occur. It has happened when I have one bar and when I have 4 bars. It has happened when I'm connected to 3G or 4G, and when I'm connected to wifi.

Hi hobbsks!
You're efforts are greatly appreciated, we'll get to the bottom of this! Upon reviewing the zip code you provided, you're surrounded by a "No Service" area. For details visit:http://vz.to/1uJibHX. Did the issue begin upon activating your current device or did you experience this issue with your previous device as well? Do you experience the issue with all or specific contacts?
Thanks,

I didn't have another device before. This is the first. It happens with all
contacts. I have discovered that it actually sends pretty well while on 3g
or 4G buts it's while I'm on the WiFi that it won't send. I have tried
several different WiFi networks all with the same result.

Thanks for the clarification hobbsks! Are you attempted to send text or picture messages while connected to wi-fi? Picture or video messages can not be sent via wi-fi.
Thanks,

I am still unable to send simple text messages over wifi. Please help to
fix this problem. It's the main function I use this phone for. Thank you!

I know messaging issues are frustrating hobbsks. We will ge this resolved. Are you using a 3rd party messaging application? IF so, try removing it temporarily then reinstalling it. If not, try a SIM card pull. Here are the steps http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/99556 . Keep us posted.

No, I am not using a 3rd party app. I am trying to use Verizon's Message+.
I have removed the sim card and put it back in, per your insturctions and
this didn't help.
As a side note to help trouble shoot, I have loaded the HeyWire app to try
and send messages. This DOES work over the wifi fine, but I don't want to
use it. I want to use my own phone number to send text messages through
Message+ or Samsung Messages app.
Thank you.

Hey thanks for giving that a shot! Were you also able to try uninstalling the application and then reinstalling it? As well are you having the same issue with the Samsung Messaging app compared to Message ? Since this issue started have there been any new applications installed or updated? Any device software updates?

Yes, I am having the same issue with the Samsung messaging app too. I have
had this phone for only two weeks and have had this problem from the start.

Once again thanks for the update hobbsks! We can try to hard reset the device to ensure there would be no software issues with the device. To see how to do so you can take a look here http://vz.to/VfX6sB. If the issues are persisting after the reset then we may have to look at replacing the device. However, if you are within the 14 day worry free guarantee we would be able to have the device exchanged. Give this a shot and keep us posted.

Are you Trying to send just regular Text or Picture Messaging.! there is a Difference.. Try this send a message a regular one to your s5 use your full Area code the full Ten numbers adding 1 in is not necessary try that see if works if power cycle the phone and re-try again..

Yes, I am trying to send just a regular Text, NO Picture. I tried sending a
regular one to myself and it failed, just like all of the others over the
wifi.

Well hmm.. lets try this tap your Air Plane to take the phone to Air Plane mode wait a few minutes turn off Airplane let your Wi-Fi reconnect and then retry sending the message..
If it does not work after this and if your under the 14 Days return.. Return the phone and have your local store put ya with a new one.. just remember there may be a $35 Dollar restock fee added to the return.. if they Determine it's a DOA unit though you should be ok with out having to pay the restock fee..

Hi Hobbsks
Thanks for replying and all the troubleshooting you've done. Let's try deleting all old messages. Then send a text to the 10 digit number and retest.
