Galaxy S7, not like certain new features from the update

Galaxy S7, Anyone know how to get messaging app without the contacts with it? How to make the bubbles in messaging a different color? Or how to make the gallery not in list form but back to the individual square folders?

Not loving the new update!! Hate how the pictures are filed now... Why can't we have the option to display them as we choose? My husband and I can not stand the messaging app... Adding the contacts in there and I absolutely hate the bubble colors that I can't seem to find how to change!! The new colors are depressing. I ABSOLUTELY HATE the Notification bar.... When I pull it down I can't tell what is what with it all looking the same. Why do you mess with small features that we all as individuals like to set it to our liking. It's all so white (boring) and I have to stop to really see where is the text message I just received?! Please consider fixing the way we can display our folders in photos, in messages how we want our "bubbles" to look and be able to control some colors for the notification bar. It may seem odd but to some of us who like things organized and not running together or displayed in list form these are important features that I loved about the phone before. We pay a lot for these phones we should have control over settings.

We understand the importance of a working device, LoveMyRuns. Being able to manage your devices is vital! Are these settings purely within the Message+ application? Have you attempted to manage the device settings?

I'm having a similar issue - when I choose an email to move into a different folder I can't see the names of the folders to choose from.  The background is dark brown and the words are in a similar color so I can't see the names on them.  Can not seem to find how to change this.  This is also happening with gallery under the folders are file names, but can not read them because of the color.

R108, You certainly want to be able to see what folder you are putting the document in. Let's work together to resolve this. Have you recently updated the software or added any new app?

Email...or text messaging?  You should be able to customize the email settings from within the email app.  Is this Google or another email?

Hi, yes the text  message app is the one it comes with. I can add a picture to the background but I don't like that there is not an option to change the bubbles the texts are in like before.

Also in the photo gallery, I don't like my folders in a list form instead of the big folders side by side like before.

In the Verizon Messages+ app you can customize the background, the style, the colors, the font - -just about every aspect of messaging.  Tap the three dots on the top right of the app when you open it to the Conversations screen, and choose customize.  Play with the options there till you get it the way you like it.

I use the messages that was on the phone, not the Verizon one. We were able to customize it before the update and now we can't. It does not have any of those options you mentioned. I checked all aspects of where it would be. Not sure why they had to change it.

I really appreciate you checking that out so quickly for me, 1hyperchick. All these details are extremely helpful. The color combination for black or white colored font is automatically selected and can’t be changed. We have already passed on feedback to the developers regarding the difficulties reading the black on darker colors or white on lighter colors in hopes of an improvement for the near future. Within the Message+ app, you can change the font size and style as SuzyQ mentioned in the same customization menu you find the backgrounds and bubble color options. As you change the bubble colors, are you noticing the text stays white even on colors you previously selected that showed black text earlier? While in the Manage Keyboard section I mentioned earlier, do you notice any difference in the color selection if you pick the “High contrast keyboards” option within the Samsung keyboard’s options?

The high contrast keyboard hurts my eyes to use so I didn't try it. The font color will revert back to black if I change the bubble color to another color. For example, I am trying to use the color red as one of the colors for my bubbles. The only color option I have for the font is a bright white which hurts my eyes. I can't change it to black, no matter how dark or light, dull or bright, red the bubble is. The font color is white until I fade the color out so much that the letters won't show and then it will flip back to black. However at that point, the color is no longer red anymore.... Kind of like the "Add Reply" and "Cancel" buttons in the post box here as I type but I want black font instead of white (if that makes sense)

Thank you

The message plus app does not give you full function to change font color. That's what I'm struggling with now. It keeps using a blinding white font instead of black and I can't find a way to change it back when I change to certain colors of the message bubble

I want to help end the struggle you're experiencing, 1hyperchick. I truly appreciate everyone bringing the font color trouble to our attention. We're working closely with developers to find a solution that helps make everything a bit easier to read again. I'd like to have you check the default keyboard in use on your phone and give a different option a try. To do this, navigate to Apps > Settings > Language and input > Virtual Keyboard > Manage Keyboards and change from Gboard (Google keyboard) to the Samsung keyboard, for example. Many keyboards are available through Google's Play Store as well. If you select the Samsung keyboard, it even has an option for High contract keyboards to help improve visibility. I'm confident this will help to improve the font in the Message+ app as well as other applications while we work with the developers.

I'm using the samsung keyboard. I don't have an issue reading it. It's the font in the app itself. If I change the color of the bubble, the font color changes from black to white and I can't change it back to black again

The font in Messages+ on my phone  (Google Pixel, and backup Samsung S6 that I am currently using) is black.  I use the "Temporal Opensky" background the "Shiny" conversation bubbles.

I don't have a choice for font color, just size and style, but it is black with those options above.  When I switch to other styles, the font remains black.  The only place I can get the font to change to white is when I switch to the "Modern" background.

Go into the messages+ app, tap the three dots on the top right, select Customization, and choose a different background and bubbles combo to see if the font changes color.  You can also use a bolder font that will show up better against the background.
