Galaxy s5 shut down...

My Galaxy s5 will shut down randomly, it also freezes up. It also give messages such as ' app is not responding". What is going on? This is my second one in a matter of less then six months. Anybody else having problems like this?
My first Galaxy s5 I had to send back, defective.

Are you using the original SIM card ? Power down, remove SIM, SD and battery- wait about 3 min. reinstall cards & battery. Then power on and do a reset of settings from settings - then backup and reset.
