Gingerbread OTA Bricked my phone

I installed the OTA updated for Gingerbread last night on my Fascinate. After the download and flash, I noticed that the Navigation wasn't working. So, I turned it off/on a couple of times. Still nothing. Sometimes it would hang on NAVIGATION BETA text, others it would simply never go past "searching for GPS". So I read the posts about doing a factory reset. I went into the options screen, and selected restore facoty data. It did this, then rebooted. However, on reboot I got all this tiny text about not being able to restore the data, unable to locate backup data, and a menu with 4 options. Reboot, reset, and some others. Thing is you cannot navigate the menu at all with any keys on the phone. So I rebooted it like 10 times by removing the battery, same thing. It also goes between the droid character with a red lightening bolt alert picture on him.

My Fascinate did the same thing. I went to the store and all they could say is they will send me another phone. WTH maybe Verizon should test these updated before they send them out over the air.

I'm so furious with this update. My phone always had glitches, but since I got the update, nothing works, and all it does is freeze. I've had to pull the battery out over 10 times today. And, I'm having the same issues with the navigation. What have they done?!?

my phone also freezed after the update. Verizon tech rep said they will ship a refurbished facinate. I don't know what they have done with this update. Now, i can't use my phone next 5 days and spend many days to reload my apps.

You need to check the applications that are running, and possibly remove and then re-add the applications to see if that fixes it. As far as the Navigation problem, there have been a bunch of people that have fixed it by:
Remove the Google Maps app
Reboot phone
Add the Google Maps app
Turn wireless on and connect to a valid wi-fi
Turn GPS services on (Both Standalone and Google Location)
Wait about 10-15 seconds
Try the Navigation app
I had the same problem with the app, but once I did this, it fixed the issue. I have since turned wi-fi off as it is not needed, and accessed the Navigation app many times, and it continues to work.

Same thing here... I have already been shipped another refurbished phone. It ALSO has the SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE! Now I am about to talk to Verizon AGAIN about the problem.
I have had problems galore with this phone.
Phantom emails from December 31, 1969.
Camera didn't take good pictures on first phone. (They sent another. It does take good pictures now.)
No one can hear me well while I am driving. The phone must pick up too much ambient noise. All 3 phones have been this way.
After Gingerbread, now every time I try to use Google Navigation the phone will lock up. Many times I will have to take the battery out of the phone to restart it.
I want a phone that works!

You didn't see all the posts, there are a bunch of people that have fixed it by simply removing the app, rebooting, and the re-installing it, and there have been others that have had to turn on wi-fi for the first use of Navigation to fix it, and it has worked since. I am 1 of those people that the Navigation did not work, but I refuse to believe that I have to factory reset to fix a problem. I did the remove/reboot/add/ and try it method, only to have it do the same thing. However, I did it a 2nd time, and this time tirned on wi-fi and connected to my home wireless, then tried it, and it seems to have fixed it.
There are people who think that a Factory Reset after an OS update should be the way to go, but I am not totally convinced it is needed, unless there are too many problems to resolve any other way.
