This problem occurs exclusively for songs saved to the SD card!
Songs saved to internal storage will remain intact in their playlist throughout reboots, battery losses, data dumps etc. But not true for songs saved on the SD card which will sometimes randomly disappear from their playlists. If I create a playlist from songs on the SD card and then unmount and remount SD card (in settings), the playlist will be emptied of songs.
