Google Sync Issue

My phone (galaxy S3) has stopped syncing anything related to Google. Gmail, Google calendar, Google Play, Google Maps, Navigation, even the weather app on the home page (the one with the time on it too). When I go into the settings area I get an error that says Sync is currently unavailable. Google Play just says "No Connection". I am connected to 4G and wifi, both of which are working.
This is the second time this has happened this week. The first time I removed the battery and it fixed the issue for about a day and then it started again. Removing the battery didn't solve the issue this time. I had several app updates that were initiated after the first battery removal. I hear there is a big google update, any chance this has to do with it?

Hey there 7765,
I am sorry to hear about all the issues that you are having with the S3. It is an excellent phone and I want to make sure that you are able to use it to its full functionality.
Thank you for already trying what we call a soft reset. This fixes a majority of the issues with smartphones.
It sounds like you are having data connection issues. Are you able to access the browser, or anything data related?
Please try powering the device off and removing the 4G sim card. Give it about thirty seconds and reinsert the sim card and power the device back on.
Test the data connection and update us with results.

Thanks for the help. I ended up spending about 2 hours on the phone with Verizon tech support. They determined there was a corruption in my phone and sent me a replacement. Only downside is that all of my preferences and accounts have to be reset, which is time consuming.
Also, does anyone know how to get the back and menu buttons (at the bottom of the phone) to still vibrate (give tactile feedback) when the phone is in powersave mode? My old phone always gave the littl evibration that let you know you had successfully hit the button without having to look, but the new one will only do it when powersave is off. Can I change that?
