When attempting to open Google Wallet on the S4 the following error message shows up: "Not supported - Unfortunately, Google Wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile network.". When will Verizon allow Google Wallet on the S4?
They probably won't allow it since they are pushing the ISIS payment service.
Hello Robot6502,I want to make sure you are able to make payments quick and as easy as possible. At this time, Google Wallet is not supported on the Samsung Galaxy S4. You can utilize, Isis Mobile Wallet is an app that transforms your device into a secure mobile wallet with virtual versions of your credit and debit cards, a prepaid Isis Cash Card and loyalty cards. You can pay, receive loyalty rewards, and redeem money-saving offers from participating merchants around town, with only one tap.WarrenM_VZWSupportFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport

Please do not take the advice of WarrenM. Google Wallet is unavailable so that Verizon can try to force you to use ISIS, which is a poor product, and forcing it on customers while not allowing competition is very monopolistic. Do yourself a favor, read the reviews and ratings of ISIS on Google Play. Better to use nothing at all. If you are determined to use mobile payments on your phone there are other options but please stay away from ISIS.
Hello WarrenM_VZWSupport,
ISIS is ONLY available in Austin, TX and Sald Lake City, Utah thus not usable for the majority of your customer base. While I understand that you are pushing your own mobile payment solution ISIS that should not mean that competing offerings are simply be blocked. Please finally allow Google Wallet to be used on your Android devices as the Galaxy S4 certainly is capable of supporting it.
While it is not publicized, ISIS is available in most locations where contactless payment is available. You will have to call CS in order to get the secure SIM card shipped to your home if you do not live in Austin or SLC, but they will be happy to do so.
Once you have the SIM in your phone, you should be able to use it in locations which accept contactless payment. I have used it in Washington DC, NYC and upstate NY.
While I agree that it would be nice to have a choice to use the app of your choice, most of the reviews on the Play Store are not giving ISIS a chance. Most rate it one star ONLY because Verizon does not allow Google Wallet on their phones without even trying ISIS.
How can you give a valid review without even trying the product????
just look for the following image on the device which accepts payment.
For example:
My big complaint about ISIS is that it is not available (in only two markets for 8+ months is a joke). They need to roll it out to additional markets or drop the idea altogether.
My belief is that this type of payment system will be ready to expand very quickly once the next version of the iPhone comes out (assuming it has NFC). Like it or not, that is reality.
As I had said previously, while it is not publicized it IS available in other markets. The secure SIM cards you need in order to use ISIS are currently only available in 2 markets, but you can call CS and they will be happy to send you one free of charge. You can then replace your current SIM with the secure SIM and use ISIS in most locations which accept contactless payment.
That makes its own argument though, as you said, most people are not giving it a chance because Verizon has blocked Google Wallet. The fact that Verizon has blocked it in the first place gives a negative feeling, which is essentially the point I'm trying to make. If that were not the case, there would be some who would prefer Wallet and some who would prefer ISIS. It's Verizon's fault for blocking it, and it would be much more successful if it were not being forced on all who wish to use mobile payment apps. If we had choice, some would choose ISIS and the reviews page would not look the way it does now.
I agree that it makes it's own argument, although I disagree about what that argument is. Most of the one star comments only make reference to Google Wallet being blocked. They make no reference to how good or bad the Isis app is, although some do.
Their argument is they don't really care whether or not the Isis app is available or if they could use it, they wouldn't even try it anyway. Doesn't matter if they don't know if the app is good or bad, they are still giving the app a 1 star review. For all they know, the app could work great. In my opinion, you should at least try the app if you are going to make a review.
Keep in mind, my comments do not in any way mean I think it is right for Verizon to block Google Wallet. I would prefer they didn't. As it is, the ONLY CC I am able to load into Isis is Amex. I would like to be able to load my other CC's into Isis in order to use them. They have WAY too many restrictions on what card you can load. Doesn't mean it deserves a 1 star rating if you don't even give it a try.
Good News (I hope!),
I chatted with Customer Service today because I downloaded Google wallet from the Google playstore and received an error message that it was not supported on my device.
Here is chat text: << Full transcript removed to comply with >>
Basically, I was told "That should work on the S4 it may have not downloaded correctly. Call our Tech department at 1-800-922-0204 and press option 3"
Maybe things just changed for the better!

No love at Verizon! Called tech support and after protracted discussions it is a no-go. Asked for ISIS sim.
I understand that ISIS is available in more places and that it does work. My problem is I don't have an America Express, Capital One or Chase card so it is useless to me. Google Wallet is open to all major credit card type, so i can use it. I would use ISIS if they supported my bank or just VISA. So for now it is just a joke and gimmick to prevent Google Wallet from taking money from them!
If I use Isis with my American Express, do I still earn Amex points in the same way as using the card directly? I ask because I think with Google Wallet you do not. Thanks
I agree with you JD. I used Google wallet extensively while on the Sprint, and have applied for a Capital One card just for the ISIS Wallet. With Google I was even able to add gift cards I received frequently from a rebate on an item purchased. The gift cards and my credit cards were always ready to use. I hope Verizon reconsiders and allows both wallets.
According to Verizon, Google is the one not letting Verizon use Google Wallet. I called Google and they said Verizon was the problem. I really don't care who is to blame but SERIOUSLY!! They both make billions, what's the problem!??
Is Google Wallet available on other carriers' branded devices?
I know that the answer is no for ATT.
You don't even have to call CS anymore to get the secure SIM card. If your device supports it, you can order it from the My Device page under the heading About My Device. Free card, free shipping. I just ordered mine, in a few days we'll see how well it works here in Dallas.
Verizon Wireless, Be advised, blocking Google Wallet is in violation against C-Block that you bought/acquired from the FCC. Furthermore, Google is not the one to blame. You know, and we all know that you are not allowing it. Google will not block their own software and hardware. Therefore, ISIS uses the NFC that is needed, as which Google Wallet uses.
We will be fored to contact the FCC again, just as we, your customers, did when the FCC came down on you about WiFi tethering.
And do not think that I know not what I am talking about. I am in Avionics, and I also have an FCC license. I know my way around electronics, frequencies, bandwidth, wireless communication - to include microwaves and radar as well as other wireless data communications), etc. So do not think me a fool.
I used Google Wallet as well, and refuse to use Isis wallet, or even try it, until Verizon allows Google Wallet to be installed and usable.
I know that they couldn't care less about us, they want us to go to Isis, but tough luck.
It's rather funny now.
If you search for 'verizon isis' on your Android Phone [Play Store]. No results are found. If you try to install it from the web-front of the Play Store; An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later.
I believe the saying "two can play at that game" comes to mind
Verizon has paid Google to block Google Wallet on Verizon.

Verizon wasn't ever planning on allowing Google access to their network phones' secure element. Since Verizon is CDMA instead of GSM they control what phones are allowed access to their network. Verizon owns a piece of ISIS and as such will always (given the legal option) find that ISIS is "the most secure" payment system. Most importantly Verizon feels entitled to the revenue stream from ISIS since they own the network. Until people are willing to leave over how laughably terrible ISIS is compared to Google Wallet nothing will change.
ISIS of course has none of the features that Google Wallet does, but Verizon doesn't care. Verizon has a great network and great customer service for aspects of that networks that Verizon intends to work, but Verizon's software sucks balls and is way overpriced (see VZ navigator).

For the premium we pay to use Verizon as a service it's interesting to me that they push a worthless service to it's users to only cause bitter feelings. It's a very poor strategy IMHO. In the end VZW will eventually allow Google wallet as ISIS will fail due to constraints despite Verizons marketing position. It's just a matter of time. As usual the US is behind the most of the rest of the world on technology as this technology is widely used in EU and parts of APAC.
Considering that on Android 4.4 Kit Kat, Google Wallet no longer needs the secure element to do Tap & Pay, I imagine it will be usable on Verizon. Google Wallet uses Host Card Emulation in Kit Kat. All we need to do is wait for that 4.4 upgrade.

At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon found some other way to block it again. Only time will tell.
It's interesting that Verizon Support said "I want to make sure you are able to make payments quick and as easy as possible."
Transferring money from my bank to the Serve card for debit transactions takes 3-5 business days.
I can do it in the Drive Through with Google Wallet...
Also, I can put any credit card into Google Wallet, where ISIS can only have AMEX or CHASE credit cards...
How is this competitive.?
I ended up not buying to Moto X. My coupon expired too lol. Opted to wait a few weeks to see what happens between Moto and Lenovo. Also wanted to see any potential devices coming out soon.
Well I think I'm going to get one Doc said he's having good luck with his and I'm about the same on usage with my pictures and music so I think a 16gig one from the store will do and I have a second upgrade coming on Line 2 and I might use it for the something new's that are to come.. and when i get mine if I do I will post heavy on it of the good and not so good but i hope for most it's all good b
Found out that to use Google Wallet, you need KitKat version 4.4.3 or above.
Funny that Verizon upgraded phones to 4.4.2.
The version just before Google Wallet is supported.
