I upgraded to Nougat a little over a week ago and my rapid charge no longer works. I still have my OEM charger and have tried others. I performed a reset of my settings and finally a factory data reset. I never had any problems with my phone until this upgrade. Anyone experiencing this issue????

We want our software updates to help your phone and not hinder it cbrown9885. What issues are you having with the rapid charger? Does is charge at 50% then stop? Do you get an error message when connecting the phone with the charger? Does the phone charger percentage go down once you unplug it?

I'm having the same problem. The "fast" charge is going very slowly post update. I'm at 38% and started charging over an hour ago when I was at 29%. It says it'll finish charging in 1hr 9min, but obviously that is wrong. I've checked to see if anything is draining the battery, but other than the OS, nothing is using more than 1%. Also, I have powersaving set to 'mid'.

Chris2bc, I have the same phone and have updated to Nougat as well. I'm not seeing issues with the fast charge feature. Let's figure out why you are. When you go into Settings> Battery> Battery usage and scroll down what applications are using the battery?

When on the OEM charger the phone will sometimes decrease battery percentage. It requires 6-10 hours to charge from about 35-45%. Yes, the error states "To Charge Faster, Use the original charger", However I am using the original, OEM Charger.

Your reply to cbrown9885 about not wanting system updates to hinder phones is a joke. If you read all the community posts here, that's about all the Nougat update did!

That is hard to say. Normally, people who don't have problems don't post on these forums because of that fact. Reading thru the many threads on the Nougat update, it seems there are just as many people WITHOUT problems as there are WITH problems. That would lead me to believe the percentage of people WITH problems is lower with this update than in the past because there seem to be MORE people without problems posting than ever before with just the average amount of people posting about problems as there are every time there is an OS update. And in many cases, people have had many problems fixed with a simple deletion of an app and then re-installation or a factory reset of the phone which has always been a recommendation whenever doing a major OS update.
I am also one of those who have not had any problems with my S7 Edge after the Nougat update. Hopefully everyone with problems will get the kinks ironed out.![]()

rschnoor, I take your point. But, the number of posts here, and the fairly consistent issues, are indicative that there is a problem with Nougat.

I have the S7 Edge and also recently updated to Nougat. As of yet I haven't noticed any change in either wired or wireless fast charging. Even charging in the car I haven't noticed any change.

Yes. Same deal, showed up immediately after the update.
If I have an app open while I try to charge, it crawls. Testing it tonight for exactly an hour, fast charging with an app open, my battery went from 58% to 61%. If I close everything, it charges a little faster.
I get something a little closer to normal charging if I turn off the screen (by pressing the button on the right side). Booting into safe mode doesn't affect charge time, but going into maximum power saving mode does -- as does turning off the phone completely. Those are the only two ways now to regain actual fast charging.
It's also running much hotter than it used to when using an app, but especially while attempting to fast charge while the phone is off or in maximum power saving mode (again, the only two circumstances when it actually fast charges).
Obviously, this isn't okay.

More information points, my mom has an s7 that she got around the same time I did last year -- she's also experiencing this issue with charging. My wife got an s7 a couple of months ago and she isn't experiencing it.

We certainly appreciate that information, Scatterling. Just to verify, did you turn off and on the Fast Charger feature after the update or make sure it is on? If you are using the VR feature and have Oculus App version 2.15.17 installed on your device, this can cause battery drain due to a bug in the app that continually installs and deletes Oculus room apps. Please make sure this application is updated to the latest version. Have you tested your charging ability with the wireless option?

I don't have the Oculus App installed and am not using the VR feature -- and I'm not set up for wireless charging (wish I was!) so that's not something I can check
I just tried turning rapid charging off and back on. It didn't appear to make a difference: over 38 minutes, the battery went from 73% to 82% (+9%)
For giggles, I checked how fast the phone charges with rapid charging turned off: over 55 minutes, the charge went from 82% to 90% (+8%)
An aside, I documented more tonight:
Starting at 10% battery in "mid" power saving mode, closing all apps except for the timer and letting it run for exactly 1 hour powered the battery to 23% (+13%)
Then starting at 23%, with a fast charging estimate of 1hr 7 minutes to full charge... set the timer for 1 hr 7 minutes and came back to the battery having been charged to 39% (+16%)
I turned off the screen to allow it to charge to full, but turned the screen back on when I saw this response -- with the screen off, my phone charged from 41% to 94% in 44 minutes (+53%) which is pretty much what I had been accustomed to seeing under normal circumstances with the screen on and apps open, prior to being transitioned to Nougat

I appreciate those precise details. Just to confirm, have you attempted charging the phone while in Safe Mode? If so, does charging take less time?

Correct, trying to charge in safe mode was one of the first things I tried after the update, and it didn't help the charge time. I just now tested it again in safe mode and my charge went from 68% to 85% in 59 minutes (+17%) which is an increase of about 3% an hour over charging it out of safe mode
Still in safe mode, it currently tells me I have an estimated charging time of 23 minutes; it told me I had an estimated charging time of 33 minutes more than 50 minutes ago
(Apologies to the original poster for the thread hijack, but maybe what's posted here can help them too)

Hi SCATTERLING! No Apologies needed. I am glad you were able to provide actual test results! Thank you very much for your input!
