Has anyone turned off decryption after having encrypted the phone and SD card? Can this be done? Do you lose your data?

I have been doing research to determine whether I want to encrypt my Samsung Galaxy S5 and the SD card in it. I see how to do it, but I have found nothing about undoing it later. Samsung Chat indicated that I would have to do a factory reset. I find that hard to believe, but I can find nothing discussing decrypting the phone after encrypting it. Has anyone done this?

To cancel out the decrypting on an SD card, you would have to reformat it. To do so on your phone, you would have to perform a factory reset.

Yes, your data will be lost so be sure to have it backed up somewhere.

you can take the sd card out, put it in a usb reader & format in a pc without the need to do the reset.

I have done some more research, and I have found an indication that once you encrypt the phone and the SD card, the encrypt option changes to a Decrypt option. Supposedly, you can click on Decrypt, and it will go through a decryption process. Has anyone done this?
