How do I add data for one month

Two S5s, one mifi (got it before the S5s)... NORMALLY, if we're at home or spend a weekend or two out camping in a month, our regular data plan is fine for covering all our data stuff. But, this month, for example, we're out for 2 weeks of the 4, and it looks like normal usage is somewhere around 1.5 GB a week. This isn't streaming, or doing anything "interesting", just normal phone stuff and Internet stuff. So, with a week to go, I'm going to run out of the 2GB plan limit.

SO, the sales people at Verizon TOLD ME it was "absolutely NO PROBLEM" to add data for any month where we're getting close to hitting the limit. I took their word for it and now I'd like to add an extra GB for this month so we don't hit the limit...

So, HOW do I add extra data a GB at a time, and have it revert to the normal 2GB monthly plan at the end of the current month?

I use the My Verizon Widget to keep track of monthly usage. I have 2 S4's, an S3 and an iPhone and we usually hit around 3GB. You actually add 2GB to your account and it costs $10. If you run over, you get 1GB and it costs $15. I tap the My Verizon Widget and get a screen showing usage by line and a button to "upgrade your plan." Tap it and you will have to answer a security question and then enter your password. This is where it becomes confusing. You will get a list of plans, all of them. You have to choose the next plan above your current plan. Then finish answering the questions and you are done. The catch to all of this is, you have to change back next month or you will continue to be charged for the higher priced plan.

Tracking usage isn't any problem. Upgrading the plan isn't to painful... Problem is I was under the impression there was a way to buy an extra amount of data as a 1-time thing - NOT having to remember to downgrade the plan...

But, it is what it is... At least the Verizon stuff actually WORKS, which the T-mobile system rarely did.
