How do I get badge notifications to appear?

Hi! I am hoping that I can get some help. I have a Galaxy S4 running 4.4.2 and my badge notifications for Pinterest and Facebook only appear on the app icon in the app drawer - not on the icon I have on my home screen. I have googled this and read forums and some say that Android doesn't support it and some say that it does but the 3 other members of my family have the same phone and they do see the badge notifications on the apps on their home screens. My Words with Friends app on the home screen shows the badge number of notifications, as well as the default email app, but not Facebook or Pinterest. It is now driving me crazy as to why I am the only one, of my family, that cannot see badge notification numbers on my home screen for Facebook and Pinterest.

If someone could please help me figure this out, I would be very grateful. Thank you!

I am sorry for the difficulties you are having with your notifications. Given that the issues seem to be application based I would suggest going into the settings of each of the applications and checking the notifications set up. If changing the notification options on the apps does not work I would then try to uninstall and reinstall the applications again.

I have tried doing both those things. Numerous times. I have even just

installed those 2 apps and I still don't get them.

Since the notifications are working for other applications and events on your phone, it seems this issue is directly related to the Pinterest and Facebook application. To confirm the features of the application for your phone, your best option would be reaching out to the application developer directly. The good news is that the developer of the application will be able to provide all the information needed to ensure the application is at it's best for your device. The developer contact information is usually included in the general information portion of the Application in your Google Play Store.
