I'm assuming you are using the phone hands-free with bluetooth. The car's built in uses the audio system's speakers in most cases. So the only way to have a "private" conversation if others are in the vehicle would be to NOT use the car's built in, but a headset. Of course, your side of the conversation would still be heard.
