How to Uninstall VZ Navigator

My girlfriend and I both recently bought Samsung Galaxy S3 phones. She's on Verizon, I'm on Sprint. I use Google Navigator on my phone, with free voice prompts for turn by turn navigation. I installed same on her phone, but VZ Navigator, which is an ongoing paid subscription service, apparently prevents the voice function from working.

I've tried disabling the VZ app, but this will work for a short while and then stop working as the app apparently restarts.

This is extremely frustrating. We don't WANT to pay for or use the VZ app but I am 99% certain it's bloatware is preventing the proper operation of the free Google Navigator.

Any feedback on how to kill this monster?

If you don't want to use VZ Navigator, then don't ... if you have a subscription and no longer want it, then cancel it.  Clear the data/cache from the app and disable it.

Disabling the app from the applications setting will hide the app from the app drawer and prevent it from running or interfering with Google Navigation.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Hi scottgius,

I have the Galaxy S3 also (I love it!) and I have tested the Google Navigator with my VZ Navigator also enabled and I am not able to duplicate the issue outlined on your post. I have also disabled my VZ Navigator and still cannot duplicate any issues while running Google Navigator. Perhaps you have another 3rd party application that is conflicting with Google Navigator. Remove the most recently installed applications and test. Keep us posted.

like ultimateBob said, your not going to get an answer to your problem here...Verizon is very against removing their bloatware best advice you can get here is to disable it...try a program like mapquest and see if it works, for me it will usually work if I have issues with Google nav. if that doesn't work either there may be a problem with the gps in your phone...aside from wasting ram space and data most of Verizon's bloatware shouldn't affect the running of other apps though. Google navigation can be touchy sometimes, try going in through Google maps first, finding your destination, then hit get directions and navigate
