How to disable the automatic conversion of emoticons to smileys on messneger + for samsung galaxy S23 plus

When using the messenger + app I have found that when I try to send an emoticon such as . It will automatically change it into an emoji or "smiley" as it's called by the app. While I really love the messenger + app, this is honestly an incredibly frustrating thing to have happen. It would be so bad if the smileys didn't look horrible. While a small complaint I feel it would greatly increase the satisfaction of using this app if there was a way to disable this feature.

How would I go about doing that? I have looked in every setting I can find on the app and nothing has even mentioned the smileys. I also am not sure of what PNing is. Is that a way to message to allow for easier contact? If so how do I do that?
