How to set speed dial numbers

I cannot figure out how to set speed dial numbers. Looked all through the settings, and didn't find anything. Do I need to get an app?

Speed Dial - Galaxy Nexus by Samsung

From the home screen, select Apps.
From the WIDGETS tab, select and hold Direct dial.
Drag the widget to the desired home screen then release.
For the widget to be successfully added, there must be sufficient space within the selected home screen.
Select a contact.
If the contact contains multiple numbers, select the desired number.

I don't know if it always did this or not, but I noticed the other day instead of dialing the contact, the first time it actually does a redial, calling the last number I dialed rather than the intended contact. Once I end that call and try again, it works. Really annoying.

no,you do not need any app to set speed dail. it is just few step as wildman said.
