When my phone is plugged into my computer by the cord, my computer makes a noise so I know it senses the phone, but the phone doesn't show up when I open Windows Explorer or File Explorer. I need to get the photos onto my computer. I have my phone set to file transfer. Help!

in the usb drop-down you need to select media, not charge only.

Since you indicate you've already changed the USB mode to File Transfer, have you tried a different USB cord or a different USB port? If all else fails, you could back up the photos to your Google Photos account and then download them from that account to your computer (and also provide you yet another photo backup).

I did try another USB port, but thank you for the suggestion. I did end up figuring it out though by trying a bunch of different things!

What turned out to be the issue?
