I've seen the notifications for completed backups but when I log into my account, it doesn't show a recent backup

My phone has completely died.  A new one is coming in today.  Over the weekend I took a ton of pictures on a trip.  The folders I created did not show up on my SD Card. I'm guessing all of the photos are still on the phone. Before my phone died, I saw the notification that my back up was complete (this was a day before the phone died). When I log into my online account, it doesn't show that I have a recent backup.  It shows I haven't backed up my phone since last year (which i know is wrong).  Are my pictures gone completely?  Is there any chance of getting them back????

Most likely the photos are still in the DCIM folder or at least on the phone.  What do you mean your phone died?

I mean died as in will not power on. Put it on a charger for several hours and nothing.  It quit.

You try to hold power and home buttons at the same time?

Yep.  Even called tech support. Which is why I stated the new phone is arriving today.  Still doesn't do anything for the pictures still stuck on the dead phone.

Well, if the phone won't power on and you didn't save to SD, and you didn't backup to a reputable cloud service (any service other than Verizon Cloud)  then you are probably out of luck.

There lies the problem.  Backup assistant told me the day before the phone died that I had a successful backup but when I went to verify that it said I haven't backed up my phone in over a year... Oh and the new albums I created for all of those pictures apparently didn't save to the sd card even though when viewing them on my phone said they were on the sd card.  But every other folder saved to my sd card is there EXCEPT the new folders.

Of all my searching for "Finding photos from a phone that will not turn on" I only found recommendations to take the phone to a professional (some mentioned Geek Squad at Best Buy since they deal with Samsung.)

Good luck.  Don't mention you have a replacement on the way as they won't even take you seriously, unless they try to order you another one or sell you something else.
