With the last update my individual text tones that I had set for some of my contacts disappeared. Will this return? I had to change my messaging app to get them back. I don't like using another app for texting.

Yes it was the update that made me lose all of my individual text notifications. I have had them since getting my phone almost 2 years ago. I used the messages app that is the default on the Samsung phones. I have always had samsung phones.and never had that problem. I do not prefer to use a downloaded app for my messages but now I have to for the text notifications.

What Jenelle_VZW should have told you, but didn't, is that the Oreo update removed the ability to customize notifications with the preinstalled messaging app. This has been a major source of irritation for many S7, S8, and S9 users. You may have to use another messaging app.
Blueeyes2276, we definitely want to help make sure that you are able to have your text tones set up in the correct way that you desire. Are you able to manually apply the text tones that you had prior to the update? What was the exact make and model of the device updated?

Gallaxy S7edge and no I cannot apply the text tones to my individual contacts. I had one update since I lost that capability and it still.doesnt work
JoseL_VZW, are you not aware that Oreo removed the ability to customize notifications? There are post after post here complaining about it.
