Word has it that they are not going to give the Fascinate and upgrade to 2.2 or Gingerbread. They want to push new phones out that have the better OS so kiss all the whining and crying for something better goodbye, it's done.

and you know this how?
You heard him... it's cause 'Word has it' - isn't that good enough? It's got to be very Official Word or otherwise he woudn't be posting it on here, right?
I kissed it good bye a month ago and will replace with a phone that has all the updates
by all your names just like mine says contributor not vzw employee so your word has it is as good as {please keep your posts courteous}... point blank you or I dont know {word filter avoidance} about if froyos coming or not
I Refuse To Believe "word has it"...I spoke with a cell phone rep at Sam's this weekend - he in turn, called his 2 buddies at Sumsung. According to both of them, Samsung tried an OTA for the 2.2 Froyo upgrade for all Fascinate customers and it failed. They are now upgrading a small group at a time and it will take no more than a month to have everyone updated. Do I believe this story? Not really but, at least it sounds better than the author of this thread!
Word has it that Fascinate will be getting Gingerbread or Honeycomb very soon.
Thats what i want mostly...a little honesty and integrity - if there is truely an issue...tell us that and that you are working on it. I guess honesty and integrity is something that is foreign these days and sadly it is not limited just to VZW in their business practices.
There is a movement to file a complaint with the FCC on false business practices if you so choose to do so.
nickjr wrote:This has been said several times, they have the upgrade for sometime and obviously they are not going to release it
They will never release it because of too man yproblems and they want you to buy new products

You better watch what you say to people on here buddy or you will get deleted. And there will be no Froyo or Gingerbread for the Fascinate and I say so.

They did say they are working on it, but then everyone puts their own spin on it, and you end up reading it. Then believing what they are stating as fact.

Definitely not getting Honeycomb, that is a tablet only OS.
Well said plus listen to me I know all
Sorry but your wrong, Fascinate will not receive those, (NOTHING AT ALL)

Tidbits...if you got that from them you got a hell of a lot more then I have. I have gotten nothing more then the run around blaming Samsung (even up to this afternoon) and "so sorry for the inconvenience".
Samsung just gives the standard "no official information is available" line. Since they have pushed froyo to other galaxy phones in my mind this is in Verizon's lap.
And BTW...dont like the threads on this.....dont answer them and dont open them. This issue isn't going away anytime soon.

Well sorry I have caused you some irritation. Oh yeah, want Froyo, go get it!
Love this picture and caption ....lol.
OMG! {please keep your posts courteous} Geez, i couldn't stand it. WHO CARES?! Frumpo, Gingerbeer, or Funnycomb. My phone Fascinate makes calls AND receives calls. Can't beat that.
What the heck, people in North Korea has the Galaxy S with Froyo; and they not even suppose to own a phone. I guess transparency miss the bus nine months ago, but luckily there is a solution.
HRHFT wrote: OMG! {please keep your posts courteous} Geez, i couldn't stand it. WHO CARES?! Frumpo, Gingerbeer, or Funnycomb. My phone Fascinate makes calls AND receives calls. Can't beat that.
Normal people do not buy a Fascinate smartphone or any other smartphone just to use for calls, I'm sorry but I think the rest here would agree with me on that one. If I wanted a phone just for calls I would have a cheap one and would not have data, texting and photo charges.
nickjr wrote:It would be nice if everyone who wanted Froyo real bad, just go and get like the rest of us. I know of no one who any difficulty upgrading thier phones from an outside source.
But is it the real thing and will it void warranty? I feel best to wait till they give it but dont believe they will, it's over
Not that they cared that much but the guys at XDA have written off the Fascinate ever getting the offical Froyo update.

not like anyone cared these same people wrote off any of the US galaxy s devices not getting froyo, and they are 0-3
Easy Sandystorm.. I hear ya. My last phone was a Motorola V710. My wife bought me this one last December for an early Christmas present. Very impressed! Like you though, I am not impressed with the lack of information from Vzw. I'll wait a bit more for the Ota update. So far, the phone does all I need it to do. Perhaps one day, if no update comes, curiosity will get the best of me {edited to comply with Terms of Service}. Hang in there!
someyoungguy wrote:all anyone here wants is a reason why other carriers in the u.s have froyo on the sgs phones and we dont, just answer that instead of the blame game and the run around, who is sandystorm? why would this user have our froyo answer, maybe they are on the inside with the answers we want I highly doubt it
there is one galaxy s for tyhe rest of the world, the i9000. it has the same hardware all across the i9000 range. so to update everyone else's phone only requires coding for one phone. in the US, we have our own versions. all of them are different from one another, and from the i9000. this means coding for 8? additional devices. add tpo that froyo doesn't like CDMA radios, and you have your answer.
M91-30 wrote: froyo doesn't like CDMA radios

No it doesn't. But then again Eclair wasn't the greatest on my device either when it comes to the radio. Have you tried the new EC01 yet? I tried the modem only over SC, didn't really see any major difference.
Android in general wasn't written for cdma devices. That's why the RIL code on pretty much all cdma android phones looks like a drunken monkey programmed it

well it dont matter about what phone they give Froyo to because they are not putting it on the Fascinate because the phone wont work good with it and they are tired of all the complaints. It's done, it's over lets just get new phones that support a better OS

So which Verizon store do you work at ?
SFObrien wrote: sandystorm wrote: lets just get new phones that support a better OSSo which Verizon store do you work at ?
Sorry but I do not work for Verizon or Samsung I just have connections and personally I just want the people to get on with their lives and forget about a phone that will not get updated for certain reasons

I'm on the mesmerize kernel.
You say why wait go and get it for your self....Where do you go....how and is is easy enough for a novice to do?
rtbagna wrote: You say why wait go and get it for your self....Where do you go....how and is is easy enough for a novice to do?
Who you talking to rtbagna? you need to quote the person you want to respond to if days have past or postings
nickjr wrote:Why wait for a new phone, go and get it like the rest of us did. very easy to do
Without reading the whole thread, I'm assuing NickJr was talking about getting Froyo on the Fascinate. That being the case, he's talking about [Edited to comply with Terms of Service]. The best place to go for that would be XDA's user forum for the Fascinate. Do a google search for XDA forums.
{edited to comply with Terms of Service}Well I know they will delete your post because of what you wrote but like I keep saying the Fascinate doesn't have it because Verizon knows they will have problems with Froyo and this phone. Good luck
Fascinate will be obsolete and they wont put Froyo on an obsolete phone
Shinebox wrote:Nick did you mention using o**n to e bee o one tar?
Ok your very wrong trust me. Right now Verizon is in the mist of releasing a update its just about money right now. Samsung is not worry about there reputation at all. People will continue to buy Samsung regardless.
Ann154 wrote:Hey sandy, what do you call this update on an EOL device?http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-confirms-android-23-gingerbread-coming-summer-droid-incredible
Ann that is the Droid Incredible we are talking about a different phone called the Fascinate
WOW, and here it is April 21,2011 and FROYO is being pushed. I think I'd check my sources better before I ran my mouth. Now you just look......{please keep your posts courteous}
I went to the retailer to ask about this particular phone and the updates but got the same run around I used to get when I had this service. I am currently out of contract with AT&T and want a little better network and connectivity then I am currently experiencing. I want to purchase a Samsung Fascinate but to no avail. I still find a certain arrogance and unwillingness to assist when I walk into the store and lets face it I haven't even purchased it yet, what kind of service will I get when I need something. Samo Samo I suspect. Although I get aggravated sometimes with AT&T because they have some network issues the phone I'm using is outstanding. I couldn't be happier. I just want their network to improve. I love my I-Phone 4 and I guess I'll just wait for the network improvements.
