How do I block a number from texting me?
You can add the numbers you want to block via your Verizon account, Sign on and go to "My Verizon" and under the menu of "My Plan & Services" select "BLOCK CALLS & MESSAGES". From there you add the numbers you want to block. These will last for 90 days but You can block up to 20 numbers indefinitely if I recall correctly.

On android you'll have to use a dedicated text blocking app like Hangouts, Phone Warrior, some other 3rd party Play Store app to block texts since the stock app doesn't do so natively.
