Latest Software update

Got the latest update last night. Installed it this morning. My battery is at 50% 4 hours into the day. At this rate I will have to charge it right after work. Until this morning, it would last all day and into the next. Anyone else having a problem after the update?

I am experiencing the same exact issue. Battery life has been almost cut in half and will hardly make it through the day without 2 charges. I hardly touch my phone and its loosing so much battery. Charged it 100%, went to work at 8:30 and its almost 3 and im down to 58%. I have only sent 3 text messages and a few minutes of facebook browsing. Wifi off, brightness down, no BT, GPS off. didnt have this issue until update. I am also having issues with the camera not working ever once in a while.

Same thing happened to me. I'm told that doing a factory reset (a real pain) might solve the problem.

Got the update yesterday morning; phone went from full charge to dead before the end of the day. Thought it was a fluke. Fully charged again this morning and already dead. No issues with battery until the update.

This issue often appears after an OTA update, I guess even after a relatively minor one like this. I've heard that what's happening is that even after the update is installed, it takes awhile for all the new and updated components to "settle in." This means there is more activity going on in the background than usual, which of course eats up battery. After a couple of days (again, as I've heard), battery life should return to normal.

I guess the alternative would be for everything to get done in the installation process, which then might tie up the phone for hours or something. This lets us use the phone right away, at the cost of having to charge it more often for a couple of days.

Not sure I buy into this. I have had the new software update for over a week and my battery life has not improved any. Before this update I noticed that the biggest battery user was the screen or maybe Google Services. After the udpate the biggest users of the battery is Android Core Apps then Google Services and the screen.

No problem with battery life on the S4 I'm using after the update.
