Lock Screen Music Controls

Question

I just got a GS3 and am getting used to it after having the 4S.  I tend to use Slacker radio a lot because I like the ability to listen to music offline.  I'm also using Google Play music and it's definitely growing on me.  But one thing I noticed is that I cannot control my music at the lock screen like I could with the 4S or even with my Nexus 7. With my Nexus 7, I can just wake it up and pause my music without even having to use the notifications bar or unlocking the device.  It's very convenient.  Does anyone know if the GS3 has this capability?  Does the GS4 even have it?  Is there a setting I need to apply?  Thanks!

Interesting question jlw1745.

You are able to listen to your music; however, when locked, you can bring down the top of screen, and select the option to play, skip, pause, etc.The phone will still be locked, but there isn't a way to manage music from the main "locked" screen.
