Lock screen

After the update I now get a message when I swipe to unlock that if I enter the incorrect pattern 9 times my phone will automatically be restored to factory settings and all data will be erased. Is there a way to turn this off? Sometimes my kids get a hold of my phone and will keep trying to unlock it. I'd be very upset if it was put back to factory settings and all data erased.

settings, lockscreen....choose another way of locking the phone.

to reset the phone requires whatever the way of securing the phone to be entered to reset the phone.

I definitely understand your concern. I wouldn't like to have my phone factiry restore by accident. This is done for the security of your phone and can't be change. You can change the security method to lock the phone http://vz.to/1uG5vlp but it will still reset the phone if the incorrect code is entered so many times.

I had the fingerprint lock on my phone and until the update it worked fine. Now I swipe it twice and it tells me I am locked out for 30 seconds because I have tried 5 times unsuccessfully, though I only tried 2x. It was also freezing my phone so after it unlocked the screen would go dark and I would have to tap the home key to get it to light up again. I would try to unlock it and the screen would go dark, light up, and go dark again. I had to turn off the lock and it's just set to swipe now. Sucks that I paid a couple hundred for this phone and now something as simple as the security lock cannot even be used without frustration. I should have waited on the software update to see how it affected others, I would have never allowed my phone to upgrade.

That's my point. They should tell you ALL of the changes the upgrade will cause, not just the major issues.

It is up to the device maker to tell you of changes any update will cause. Good or bad.

There are also numerous websites that have that information.

Verizon did not make your device. They provide access to the cellular and data network, that is all.

Contact your phone maker.

Once again, I'm not an idiot. I know who makes my phone. However, Verizon reviews these updates before being allowed to be passed on to the consumer. I don't need all these silly responses that are not helpful in addressing my issue. If you cannot answer the question, please refrain from commenting. My phone worked a certain way when I purchased it from Verizon and I have the right to ask questions of the company I purchased a product from. Some of you all need to get a life instead of trolling these forums and offering stupid solutions.
