MMS Texting Timeout

In Google Messages, there are three dots in the corner, tap that and then Settings.
In Chat Features what is the Status?

In Advanced, verify Auto-Download MMS is on.

It's on. MMS does work sometimes, it's just when there's high sends/received in a short period of time it simply stops working. This just happens often because the groups I'm in have several people so even a brief back and forth with some/most of the people in the group can cause the "time out" to happen.

Also Status says Connected. I've never had a problem with SMS texts though which these "Chat Features" seem to apply too since I've never seen any of these features in a group chat.

This just started happening to me a couple days ago for absolutely no reason. Instead of trying to get Verizon to fix whatever is causing it, I'm actually working with one of the messaging apps who wants to actually help and get this solved. Within one day I think they have a working app as I tested it a few hours ago and 30 mms messages went through in under 5 seconds.

I'm going to stress test it tomorrow.

I have the same exact issue for years and very frustrated. I am using an S21 and also had the same issue with a Pixel 7 (Thinking it would fix the issue). Happens with all Android messaging apps (Google, Message+, etc). I have had multiple calls with Tier 2 support and no help at all. At this point, looks like I might have to go to another carrier.

The main issue is that when I try to send a text with a picture (to one or sometimes more than one person), many times it gets delayed for many hours. For example messages + says queued, and then sending and then just sits at sending for a very long time. No issues at all with my family who has Iphones sending messages with their iphones. I am on the only one that cannot get messages out. i also tested it against another S21 on AT&T and they couldn't get the message.
Definitely seems like a Verizon network issue. THis happens when both on Wifi and Cell.

My signal strength for Verizon isn't the best (-118dBm) but still works. ALso doesn't work on WiFi

If someone can help me out that would be great. I've spent way too many days for too long of a time trying to troubleshoot this issue.

Let us know what messaging app your testing. I've tried them all with no luck.

I'm still working with their team and they want to keep doing tests to figure out the problem. The version they sent me might work for some, but they still haven't solved what is causing this mms failure and would like to work with someone who is still having issues.

Same issue here. If I send/receive a lot of texts, (seems like especially group texts?) in a short amount of time, I get disconnected for 15 minutes. No texts send or receive. Won't download. This is true for all messaging apps I've used... Even switched default app during the 15 minute time period - still didn't work...

Oh, no! I'm sorry about the situation. Please tell us more. Does the other side get an error when they send the message? Do you get an alert that a message is pending, or you just get all the messages at the same time? Is the time correct when you get the messages? ~Aaron

I have had this exact problem for years. Over that time I have used multiple phones and texting apps, neither of which have any impact on the situation. Group texts will time out and I have to wait to receive texts. I have had several long IT calls that solve nothing. Eventually it starts working again, not because anything has been fixed but because it has been over 15 minutes. It has been so frustrating, that I have started looking at alternate carriers, even though I have been with Verizon for many years.

Did anything ever come of this stress test? I've been working on this problem for three or four years and it's only getting worse.

Just adding onto this, my household has been experiencing this exact issue for 3 years now (all Samsung Galaxy S22), and Verizon support has been entirely unhelpful. If we get enough MMS messages in a group text in a short period of time, just like previous users have commented, we sometimes get a 10-15 minute "blackout" where none of the MMS messages from other members of the group text get downloaded. We just see a slew of "downloading..." icons on each individual member of the group text, and have to wait until they eventually get downloaded (almost always out of order, too)

Never an issue with data/wifi-based messaging, like WhatsApp, only ever with texts, and we've used multiple different texting apps with the same exact results. Definitely a Verizon issue, and definitely something they do not care to address apparently. Hoping that one day they fix this, because it is beyond irritating.

Contact the office of the CEO, I believe it is called Verizon executive support. They have been super helpful in trying to find a solution...

I have been working with Beverly from executive relations and it seems like they are actually trying to solve the issue with the engineers.

Contact Verizon executive support. It's basically contacting the office of the CEO. I have been working with Beverly in that department and have been contacted by people trying to actually solve the problem, at least I think. More of us that escalate this issue to that level, the more likely it gets solved

I have the same problem and it's so frustrating, nothing makes it kick back on any sooner and by the time it works again I could be 10 topics behind in the conversation or someone was waiting for an important update from me.
