I contacted support and did a system repair. It's working fine now, after 3 hours of backing up and repairing.

Consider yourself lucky. After I updated, I have a dead phone. Samsung rep at Best Buy told me that marshmallow isn't compatible with the S5 and killed my phone.

If you bought the phone from best buy and they won't replace it call samsung it might take time but 99% not rudely but explain that you are very upset that phone said it needed update the crashed if they don't want to replace your phone over something that is their fault then you will no longer buy their phones an you will tell everyone else also, and they should replace it but be nice

After updating, overnight it apparently restarted and I got a message that
the phone had not restarted properly along with a discharged battery. Shut
off and recharged battery. Restarted the phone. Got a notification of some
sort and tried to see what it was. Could not. Shut phone off and it would
never start again. Tried removing battery, restarting with it on the
charger, took it to Verizon and Samsung at BestBuy. Cannot get phone to do
anything
