Message "Download"

Why do I keep getting the "Download" message in SMS and MMS?  Pressing download doesn't do anything, either.  It just says "downloading" and doesn't actually do anything.  I am on WiFi since I work in the basement of a concrete building and can't get mobile data.  Also, is this an android thing?  None of my friends with iPhones have issues like this.

Getting your messages to you is important, DJBadgers. Are you using Message + which is designed to work over WiFi? MMS message still need access to cellular data to download. Multi media messages, such as picture messages need to go through a cellular server. The reason none of your iPhone friends seem to have this issue is that they are using iMessage, an Apple feature, that is designed to operate solely off of WiFi. I believe that if you use Messages + you will have a better experience. http://vz.to/1P5ndsw

Yes. I use message+. Ever since I started using the phone pictures and

messages among a group of people have been misplaced as single messages

that show “download” - no text. After hitting “download” nothing ever

happens. I’ve tried a bunch of 3rd party apps. Nothing seems to work.

I’m not very happy that the Verizon store guy talk me into switching from

iPhone to Samsung.

Verizon Messages + should work for you, DJBadgers, as long as you do not have airplane mode on. Do you have airplane mode on? Also, it is tough to get signal as you know in a concrete basement.
Group message and picture messages are considered multimedia messages. Are you having problems with regular text as well? Does it work better when you go upstairs? Is this issue just isolated to the basement?

The first and only time I’ve had airplane mode on was last week when we

were out of the country. I have WiFi in the basement where I work. I also

have the problem at home as our home cell signal is very poor but we have

WiFi in our house. So, I get regular messages fairly delayed and I get the

same “download” message that doesn’t do anything. The annoying thing is

that my wife has no issues with her iPhone and I got talked into the

Samsung when we switched to Verizon.

Making sure your messages are working properly is important to us DJBadgers. We want to do everything we can to help. Just to clarify, is the issue with the messages only happening when you are indoors where you can not get a data signal? Do the messages download when you turn WiFi off and connect to cellular data? Is this issue only with multimedia messages (picture, video, group) or is it happening with regular text messages as well?

The download issue happens when I’m indoors and not getting a signal as

well as at home where I get almost no signal.

I can’t turn WiFi off to get mobile data. I need to restart the phone for

that to work. I have that as another issue on the community page.

The issue happens with pictures as well as group texts (which show up as

“download” under SMS for the person who sent them to the group). The

message doesn’t go into the group chat.

DJBadgers, we appreciate the details that you've provided. When you get outside and are able to connect to the cellular network, are you able to view and see the messages that show "Download"? Keep me posted.
