Messages truncated with Nougat update on S7

I ran the update for Nougat and now any text messages beyond a certain length are truncated on the screen and I have to click on the message to see the entire message. How do I turn it off to see the full message?

PS - I HATE the white boarder around my apps and widget icons.

RE - the white border - go to settings, display, Icon Frames & chose Icons only
