Is there a way to shuffle music using the default Music Player instead of playing 1 song after another in a playlist? never mind - found the solution in another question.

Playing Music
Songs on the
Touch a song or playlist to begin playback.
During playback, use the sound and playlist controls:: When enabled, songs play in random order.
• Shuffle - disabled, songs play in the order they appear in List view.
(Shuffle is the crossing lines on the left) Press to activate
From the Home screen, select Applications Music Player.Music Player scans your memory card and displays yourAll, Playlists Albums, Artists, or Genres tabs.
