Music issue on Galaxy S4

I recently switched from the I5 to the S4.  I downloaded some music to listen to on my phone.  I use my headphones while listening.  The music seems to sound like there is static in the background and the volume adjusts up and down.  I do not have this issue listening to the same music on my laptop.

Is anyone else having these issues?

Thank you

It sounds like there is a loose connection, causing poor electrical contact, somewhere in the headphones or the S4. Try jiggling the headphone jack gently to see if the sound changes, or try another set of headphones. If the issue goes away with another set of headphones then the loose connection might be in the headphones. I have found that headphone jacks on cell phones, iPods, iPads, & MP3 players are usually where the problem is located. Because the headphone jacks on these devices are very small and not  robust, they cannot withstand much physical stress and they tend to become loose (example, when  your headphone cord is accidentally yanked side ways while plugged into the device, it could loosen a connection inside the S4 headphone jack).
