I was talking with my oldest son yesterday who is very tech, savvy and I mentioned Netflix and how much I enjoy what it offers for $8 a month, I also mentioned that I wished it was possible to use it on a smartphone. His response was I could have with program called PlayOn. I went to the web site and discovered to my disappointment that I need Android 2,2. My son has an HTC Evo running Android 2.3. During the same day I am talking to my brother in law who has a new Motorola Droid about what is going on in Libya and mentions I should check out on my phone a video that CNN is running on their website...well he gets to watch the video on his Verizon phone, I don't...yeah that was a really great feeling.

We are all on the same boat as you're.
In order to view the video you may want to use the Skyfire broweser that allows somewhat limited view of the videos on the web.
If you want to make a difference and apply extra pressure of VZ and Samsung, please join Facebook group that gathering impact force to have our voice heard.

I have not ruled out updating on my own as an option, it's not something that I am ready to do right now. There remains a battery life problem with the update and I don't want to compromise the excellent battery performance I currently enjoy. I have Slingbox on my Fascinate right now so I can get by for now. I have copied some movies to my SD that I ripped with DVDFab. so I have entertainment options for now. I will wait a little longer see if VZW/Sam can get their act together. Yes, being limited is frustating.

Battery life is fine with Standalone GPS disabled. Best part is if it's not up to par, you can easily go back to stock 2.1 EA28.
Picked up a Thunderbolt Friday and needless to say, I think my Fascinate is about to hit Craigslist (after reverting back to stock of course). In only 2 days the development community has already passed the Fascinate.

Yes, his phone is custom and it is an amazing combination of speed and capabilities, my youngest son has a custom HTC Incredible and also amazing. I happen to really like the balance the Fascinate offers me between a large Evo and the smaller Incredible. Either son can easily help me update, I am trying to be patient and let an OTA update take place, if it doesn't; I am lucky I have capable help nearby.
