Had a notice of an update to my Galaxy S3 this morning. I have installed it. Got a pop up saying that my SD Card was damaged.....it wasn't when I went to bed last night. Now everything that is on my SD Card is gone (according to my phone). Says to try reformatting my card, but then will lose all info on it. Anyone else having this problem?

Calvin,
I am so sorry for the issues you are having with your device after the software update. We don't want you to lose your everything that is on your SD card. Did you remove and reinsert your SD card? Have you tried to put your SD card into another device or computer to see if you can view the information on the SD card? If you can view the information, you can transfer the information from the SD card to a computer and then place your SD card into the device and reformat it then.

I am afraid to do this update after all of the problems that I had with the last update. It took me weeks to get my phone working right - and countless hours of Internet research to come up with possible solutions for the lousy battery life and other issues. I don't want it screwed up again. Can customer service please provide some answers? Should I remove my SD card before doing the update? I have deferred the update until tomorrow hoping that there will be some response from Verizon. If not, guess I will keep deferring it until there are.

I understand your concerns mcehop; however, we don't want you to be apprehensive about an update. Although we work closely with the companies, updates are manufacturer and OS developer specific. They are recommended once they become available, similar to a home computer, laptop or tablet. You don't have to make special preparations for the update.

Hello TechSavy. I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing with your S4. Many of the issues you are experiencing (such as the overheating and force closing apps) are not common issues associated with this device. It very well may be a bad OS install, or a possible conflict between the new OS, and existing apps in your phone.
When you are running your GPS, is your phone charging at the same time? This will cause your phone to become warm. It is likely that other apps are working in the background, which are contributing to it overheating. If your phone becomes too hot to touch, please take it to your nearest direct VZW store for review. http://bit.ly/3SdsA
I truly recommend attempting to run your phone in Safe Mode first to see if you notice a difference with regards to this. http://vz.to/1mfdKT4
If there is no difference, I recommend performing a master reset. http://vz.to/1fN6gGo Please be sure to backup all your data first to a PC, and also remove your SD card from your device before performing the master reset to factory default. Upon start up/set up, please be sure to not activate Google's Auto Restore service, as this will automatically download prior downloaded apps and settings. (Which can download and cause the same issues to commence again.)
We ask that you download a few apps at a time and test them out first in case you notice any compatibility issues. If any are discovered, please reach out to the app developer so they are made aware, and can work on an update.
Please keep us posted, TechSavy.
