So I got the new Note 7, and am applying an update. The phone is almost too hot to hold. Anyone else having problems with the NEW one already?

Congratulations on your new phone! I'm troubled to read that you are having some concerns with the phone being too hot to hold. Is this only happening while you are applying the update? Do any alerts or errors appear on the phone that indicate that the phone is overheating?

I had the same thing happen to me when I got the replacement. While applying the update, it got to hot to handle that I had to put it down. It was not charging at the time. The funny thing is that my original Note 7 would not get even slighty warm under load even while charging. I was reluctant to change it and now I'm getting a hot unit. Would you suggest I go back to the store to exchange it?

I don't know. Everything else seems ok. I'm going to put it on the charger when I get home from work and see what happens tonight.

Thanks for providing all those details as it helps us to narrow down the issue you are experiencing. Did you have a chance to test the phone while charging? While it is normal for the phone to feel warm to the touch during a software update or while charging the phone, we don't want the phone to be too hot you can't touch the phone. Please keep us posted.

I didn't get any errors or alerts. It was while I was applying the update. I haven't had my phone plugged in today, so I don't know yet whether or not it happens when it is just charging.

Have you guys re-check the IMEI on the samsung website? ...just to make sure your phone was not on the recall list (again).
I have one question for you guys successfully getting a new Note7 (which mine was still pending to be exchanged): can the new battery charged to 100% or it's limited to less than full?

No worries, these things do heat up at times, I remember my wife's HTC ONE M8 used to get so hot it would actually be uncomfortable to hold. Are there any apps in the background that could be using CPU? (Social Media apps are notorious for this)

I did the update at the store and my phone got really hot as well. But now I've had my phone since Tuesday afternoon and charged my phone(numerous times), even charged while using and it has never gotten hot again.

Yes, same here. I had the exact issue with this replacement that I picked up on Tuesday. It also gets warm when you charge it. Yesterday, it cooled down when it was fully charged, but today it remained warm. I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do. Are you going to exchange it again for the same, for a different model, or do you plan on keeping it?

Yup I understand that thanks its just my first note 7 did not, so not sure why that one was not getting hot but anyhow after the updates and a full day after, the phone seems ok now. its not getting hot anymore even while charging so i am happy.
The only thing that gets hot while charging I've noticed is the actual charger. But for now thank god all is back to normal.

I can understand the additional concern with the history of the device, teridarren. Can you fill me in a bit more on exactly what’s going on with your device? It’s normal for the device and the charger to both get slightly warm during charging or in use. If the phone is used while charging, the heat may increase as well. It certainly should never get uncomfortable to the touch though.
