DANVOL27, we want to make sure you are able to use all of your features. Are you still having issues finding this option? What texting application are you using? Is it Verizon Message Plus or the original texting application that came with the device?

... Ann and Kathy, thanx for your response. I have a Samsung Galaxy 5. Prior to this latest system update, my TTS worked fine. Now, there is NO icon for it. It's been replaced by a "settings" icon, and, when held-down, 5 other icons appear, none of which are a "microphone". Iv'e also selected "Google Text to Speech" option in the "Language and Input" section. When viewing Google Playstore, the Google TTS engine application indicated "installed". I uninstalled and reinstalled this app, but there was no change. Thanx, again. //d

DANVOL27 I rely on being able to text hands free so I can see why the Text To Speech function is important to you. Based on some information I viewed about the TTS feature, it appears that you also have to enable the Talk Back function. Do you see an icon listed as , 'Talk Back'? Here are some steps to ensure it's turned on:
Touch Apps from Any Home screen.
b. Touch Settings.
c. Scroll to Personalization.
d. Touch Accessibility.
e. Touch Direct access under More Settings.
f. Turn on the Direct Access switch by sliding it right. Doing so enables your Accessibility settings.
Let us know if this works.

... thanx. None of the above suggestions work, even after adding the "talkback" function. I've not added any texting apps. so I'd have to say that I'm using the texting/messaging app. that came with the phone. No microphone icon that allows me to "talk to text". Thank you ... //d

You have to add the microphone to the keyboard application through the application settings if it isn't on the keyboard now

... thank you, Kathy. I've never done a backup. And thanks to you and the others that have tried to help.
I'm beginning to wonder if I can even get a fix on this site. I thought this was monitored by Verizon; thought they would "step-up". I frustrated at this point. I'll call them directly on Monday and speak with a tech. Thanx, again and HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! //d
