No notification bubbles after Jelly Bean update.

Hello, my Galaxy S3 no longer shows the number of missed calls or text messages in little bubbles on the lock-screen. apparently it's a problem/change on Verizons side of Jelly Bean, since other S3 carriers don't suffer from this. Is there a way to fix it, if it's a bug, and does Verizon know about it? Or was it intentional?

I've factory restored the device and all, no change.

Mine is doing the same thing and it is very annoying.  Is Verizon going to fix this?

I have the same problem, also the calendar won't advance forward and display appointments. The email

widget doesn't update. I rely a lot on the calendar and the message bubbles through out the day because its

always noisy where I work. Kinda lame situation For a top notch phone, might as well be any other android phone now.

I would much rather go back to ICS at least it all worked. They also sent me a replacement and it updated

it self a couple nights ago so I am right back where I started. I think they should fix this problem now!

Hi,

The same thing is happening to me too. It happened right after getting the jelly bean update. My phone was replaced (for antenna issues not this) and 2 days later I got the jelly bean again so once again the notification bubbles were gone. This also happened to my daughter. We are both verizon. I loved those notification bubbles. Now I have to squint at the notification bar to see a missed call and I can't see any missed texts in the notification bar. It is so inconvenient. The bubbles were one of my favorite features.

I used the phone for a month before the update was visited upon me and was completely spoiled by those notification bubbles on the lock screen. Probably the most convenient feature I've ever had on a phone and it's sorely missed.

Hard to imagine that this was not just an oversight because going out of one's way to make something harder to use defies logic.

REALLY wish they'd stop giving me reasons to switch carriers (the competition has apparently maintained this feature with the recent updates).

I love how they said that they "tested jelly bean extensively"...really?  How did they miss the absence of notification bubble...or signal strength degradation...or increased battery consumption??  They had better come out with a software push soon!  I loved this phone before the software update, now I'm dropping calls and having to charge while all the time missing text notifications...lame.  Thanks Verizon...you turned a masterpiece into a turd.

Its a bug, someone on xda found the fix, but you have to violate your warranty to fix it.  Really just a file that needs to be renamed, not a big bug, i just put my phone icon and messaging icon on the lock screen so i get notified that way if i have a message.  They said the error was caused not by Samsung but by one of Verizon's bloatware crap apps...

I really hope they bring the bubble notification back! It was really convenient for me to use. I hope enough people see this and complain about it so Verizon will actually fix it. This was the one feature I loved about the phone. VERIZON- BRING IT BACK!!!!

I want the bubble notification back. Other carriers still have it and this upsets me greatly. I love being able to use the shortcut and it went right to the msg  or email.

i noticed the battery consumption but didn't connect that to jelly bean... WTH verizon what were you thinking. get your butts in gear and fix this. fix the calendar too.  I'm now very unhappy with being a verizon customer. i love my phone now put it right PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU FIX MY PHONE Smiley Sad

Hi Community!

Oh wow! I can certainly understand your frustration with removing the bubble notification. Let's get this resolved. VZW and Samsung want you to have the best user experience. The Jelly Bean update for Samasung Galaxy 3 includes a  change in the default view of the lock screen.  When missed calls, new text messages, and/or new emails are available, the number badges shall be shown. No bubble indicators shall be shown. Hope this helps!

Thanks,

No other carrier had this happen with the Jelly Bean update, it seems weird

that Verizon is the only carrier with so many issues after the update.

Yeah well,  my calendar still doesn't work at all and it worked before. Not very happy about that.

I do miss the notification bubbles, I could live without them all though I think you guys ruined a great

feature, I cannot deal with the calendar widget not working it has totally made my work day appointments

frustrating, when I used to love the funcionality of this phone. Kinda dont know what to think now and I

am starting to regret the purchase.

"No bubble indicators shall be shown. Hope this helps!"

With all due respect, how does confirming our fears "help" in any way?

In addition to the significant loss of convenience (the bubbles), battery consumption is now a real problem that I can't seem to get under control.

Calendar issues here as well.

This really was a great phone before the update. Not so much now.

Way to go, Verizon... you've once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

I am very disappointed as well that I lost the notification bubble.  It was a very convenient function for me.  I hope Verizon finds a way to fix this because everyone else who has a Galaxy 3 with another carrier still has it therefore I don't think it is too hard to figure out how to put it back on.
