For a few days I figured something was a bit off but for sure today I discovered that my S3 isn't connecting to any mobile network. It connects to WiFi fine but I don't get 3G, 4G, etc.
I have a 2GB plan and I've used 80MB so it's not that.
Help!
Is the mobile network radio turned on? What is the network type and signal strength in dBm that you are connecting to?
Mobile data is on.
Network mode: CDMA/LTE/EVDO
Signal strength: -93 dBm, 1 asu
I switched it from Global to CDMA/LTE and the strength changed to -113dBm, 27 asu
I've never had a problem getting 3G/4G at work (which is where I currently am).
Bump. Anything?
You should keep the network set at LTE/CDMA.
Is the signal different inside vs outside?
Not really. I think I looked at it yesterday while outside just for kicks and it was around -120s.
That's not good at all, sounds like you are in a very low signal area.
I used 80MB of data over 4-5 days before this happened (that's normal for me) in the exact same location (in the 10 months I've had mobile data, coverage has been great). A coworker is in the exact same location, using the exact same phone, on Verizon and he gets data just fine which leads me to believe it's an issue with my phone. When I got to work I'll see his signal strength.
My coworker is showing -115dBm 25 asu.
I'm showing -118dBm 22asu
He can access the mobile network, I cannot. We're both using S3s with Verizon.
Try this to see if you can force your phone to reconnect to the network and update network location, etc. Take out your SIM card and leave it out for 5 minutes, put it back in and reboot your phone. Are you able to send and receive data?
If this doesn't work then try a new SIM card from Verizon. They're free from Corporate Verizon, but independent retailers may want to charge you, so always go to a Corporate Verizon Store or call Verizon Customer Service..
