Been into store so much complaining about Froyo and the other phones that I got a signed agreement from A VZW manager that when 4g is in area and the HTC Thunderbolt is released they will trade out my Fascinate for it plus and I love this one, I will not get 4g charges for a year only what I pay for 3g. Sometimes it helps to complain but also be nice doing it.

Well I have heard good things about HTC and as far as extra batterys and charging, it cant be any worse than the Fascinate which when playing around with on Facebook just mainly looking at poatings i have to put on charger every 3 hours and at night with full charge nothing running but auto sync It will drop 25 to 30 percent.

HTC is notorious for subpar battery life but the 2-3 hours is pushing it. Maybe that's constant LTE use. Heck, I can kill the Fascinate in a little over 4 hours. People who have actually used the device are saying that the battery life on the Thunderbolt has been blown out of proportion and it isn't really that bad (on par or slightly better than the Evo). It will most likely be worse than the Fascinate as it has a larger screen, lte and a 100mAh smaller battery. It's just likely any of the other androids, if you actually use it constantly, you're going to kill the battery fast. I'm happy with the Fascinate on Froyo (SC 2.9) but I would jump all over it too if they offered the bolt to me since SenseUI >>> any other android overlay.

You probably have some problem with your Fascinate battery or run some crazy app!
I use my Fascinate phone regularly, all day. I have two email accounts and Facebook on autosync. There is a bunch of other background services like Groupon and Weatherbug that are always running. I also have by Wifi, BT and GPS on ALL the time. I play Pandora about 1 hour every day during commute (streaming via BT). I watch a few videos on FB and UTube. I spend about 1 hour browsing. My talk time is about 30 minutes in a typical day. My battery lasts a full day without any recharging. I put my phone into the charger at about midnight every day (at which time, it still has more than 20% juice left) and it is fully charged by the time I wake up (around 7AM). I DONT run automated app killers or anything of that sort.
My only gripes with the Fascinate are
1) No Froyo (officially)
2) No Front Camera
3) BT mic stops working if headphones are plugged in (remedied by a cheap headphone-passthru cable with built-in mic)
4) GPS takes a long time to acquire satellite (sometimes)
5) WiFi and Cellular signal strength/reception is poor

I just cant buy that and like I said I only keep auto sync on and when I do put GPS on better be ready to charge in less then 4 hours and thats without talking texting or playing around.

Bigfrank69, did they extend your contract?
Well if you mean sign another 2 years when I get the Thunderbolt then yes. As far as extending contract im not reall sure just that as usuall everytime I get a discount on a phone locked in for another two years which I dont mind because I still think Verizon is still the best out there.

I can't blame to the guy, he saw and opportunity and took full advantage of it. This hold update promise has become an agonizing wait, greedy Sammy and Verizon has shown time and again that their only interesting generating revenue. Greedy Sammy is are already updating overseas users to gingerbread, that to me comes as a big insult.

okay, here's what I've noticed from talking to people using the evo 4G (which the thunderbolt is just an evo on steroids), they usually don't like the interface, it's not big finger friendly. the battery life is abysmal, and they overall just "don't like it". I hand them my phone, and they like the screen better, the interface (swype vs android keyboard, for example), is more big finger friendly. not to mention, I've never had a problem keeping my phone active all day without charging it. also, you must realize how small verizon's 4g coverage is right now, and most places won't have it until 2012, where I am likely won't have it until 2013. this means I'm not looking for a new phone until 2013, it just doesn't make financial sense.

Thanks for replying and I think your right it's not worth waiting for a phone when they dont have the 4g coverage evrywhere and will take time. Might just look for the best 3g phone if they come out with one but seems all nice phones are the 4g.

bigfrank69 - You liked your fascinate and one point and made posts to that affect. Over some time and to whatever reasons you gathered your annoyances over a Verizon rep selling you on the idea of something that was to come. Did you not just get sold again on something that is "to come"? You say you have that in writing and I am sure it's good unless of course that manager moves, leaves, gets fired or the like. Then it will be the well we can do that and that is why that guy is no longer with the company. I mean I am not trying to pick on you by no means, I am just concerned about this for you is all. Now if you get the better deal in the future or "when 4 g is in your area". I think the 4 g thing is not quite up to par at the moment. Maybe I am not 100% sure but I seem to recall having the phones before the 4g is really ready from those offering it. But who knows. Maybe by the time your promised deal takes place, things will be better and you wouldn't have made another deal based on another promise to do something in the future on another contract?
Seems a little repetitious to me.

They all make promises and I am just going to relax and wait for the Froyo or whatever, and your right I did say I loved this phone the Fascinate and I do but wanted better and newer. I think the thing I do hate about phone is the side button for activating phone and shut off I always hit the volume buttons and try different ways but think it's clumsy on the side and harder to push then volume buttons and just cant get used to i. I want the power button on bottom front like alot of the phones

Maybe most phones do and maybe im used to seeing my friends IPhone with it on lower front but thats what I like, I do not like where mine is opposite the volume just cant get used to it. I use silicone case and it makes it harder to press button but volume well I always make it go up and down with ease when trying to wake up or shut off phone.

Those aren't power buttons. Those are just a means to scroll or select things like the trackball on a blackberry.
