Note 4 microphone not working

My main microphone won't work for anything ( calls, voice recording etc) if I put the phone on speaker or use the group setting on the voice recorder ( I'm assuming both use the top microphone) it works just fine.  So far I've tried clearing system cach turning off s Voice and Google now as much as possible and then a factory data reset.  I've also tried to blow out the bottom two microphones in case there was some lint of some sort in there but nothing has helped.  I did recently recently receive the lollipop update and have seen on other sites that this is a fairly common issue but no one seems to have a solution.  Any ideas on what to do next?

woodharpy, let's get it back up and working! Did this issue happen immediately after retrieving the software update? Do you have 3rd party applications downloaded to it? Try running the device in Safe Mode. http://vz.to/1qSB34I  Keep us posted.

It was probably about a week after it updated and I forgot that I did try it in safe mode as well still wouldn't work.

Any ideas on what to do next or if there will be a software update soon to fix this if it isn't a hardware problem?

woodharpy,

Let's make sure we figure this out. Is there any sort of case or anything like that on the phone? If so can we try without them to see if it makes a difference? Have you tried turning the phone off and removing the battery and SIM card to see if that helps?

I have the same issue. But for me it is intermittent and when I reboot the device it starts working again. But I will never know when exactly it will stop working. I will try to find a way to reproduce this.

I wish mine was like that it just stopped working with no warning and I guess I have Verizon stumped because they have been really slow to reply and haven't had much for suggestions on a fix.... Just seems like software to me so I'd hate to have to get a crappy warranty phone because of it.

woodharpy,

We want to make sure this is solved for you. Do you back the phone up? http://vz.to/16bLoV6 Once it is backed up we can try a reset. If it continues after that with everything you've already done we likely are looking at a hardware issue.

As I stated before I've already done a reset and it didn't help.

I'm so sorry woodharpy!

How long have you had this phone? Other than the recent update, has there been any liquid or physical damage? Even just mist, steam, etc.? Can you try using with Bluetooth or headphones to see if works that way? Please keep us posted.

There has been no water or steam damage to this phone and I've had it less than six months... Very frustrating!

I've had two Galaxy S6 phones for about 3 weeks. One of them has an issue with the mic when recording video. It has this horrible hissing sound when recording video & playing it back. I've tried recording with all video settings, I tried doing a factory reset (4 times), & I've tried 3rd party video recording apps to see what the issue is.

With one app, the audio settings we're changed from "auto" to "mic" or "main". The recording worked great with no hissing sound, BUT it won't record in HD with this app. I called, was held up on the phone for quite a while, only to be told the issue wasn't some thing Verizon could fix. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but a phone that's only 3 weeks old should be able to be replaced easily, especially considering it is the device & a hardware issue, from what it seems.

Can I also call that number & easily have mine replaced with no fees? I'm not happy about this at all. I'm also wondering why Verizon transferred me to Samsung for a repair. Samsung said they'd repair it or replace if they couldn't repair. I don't need a repair. I need a simple replacement on a NEW phone that isn't working right.

Any help is appreciated.

I understand your concerns regarding the issue with your mic while recording video hXcpunk23! I definitely want your phone to perform as intended! I see that manufacturer has offered you an option to repair. We can certainly explore a Warranty Replacement http://vz.to/uyYF0o option for you also. A hands on evaluation is required to check on this mic issue. Please visit a store and they can process the warranty replacement for you.
