Nougat broke Fingerprint scanner

I just updated to Nougat and now my fingerprint scanner barely works at all. I removed all of my previous fingerprints and set them back up. Getting any of them to work is an exercise in frustration. It barely works at all. I find it works more often if you swipe the screen (to bring up the numpad for entering a pin) and THEN use your fingerprint, but we should not have to do this. Even with this trick it only works maybe 2 out of 10 times.

That's a great idea, bearone21. Were you able to give cleaning the screen (especially the fingerprint scanner) a shot, Gabbo? Removong and re-adding your fingerprints was a great start too. Do you have any protective cover that also covers where your fingerprint would read?

Pointless.

Cleaning the screen would do absolutely nothing to resolve issues with the

fingerprint scanner as the scanner is completely separate from the screen.

I am not the only one having issues with the fingerprint scanner directly

after updating to Nougat. The scanner did not magically become dirty after

the software update.

Gabbo, while it's too late for you, you have described yet another reason to delay installing Nougat. This is another example of what happens when VZW doesn't adequately test major system updates. The same thing occurred when Kit Kat basically bricked the S4 and S5.
