Off screen icons and time available?

I just switched from a Motorola. On that phone, I was able to have a clock and small icons appear when my phone was off (not powered down, or on lock screen) to let me know if I had an email, text, etc. Does the Galaxy 5 support this or is the colored LED light all I have as far as notification? Then I would have to press power key to see time...etc.

CLock, camera and phone icon will appear when you press the home button. They don't stay on the screen while phone is asleep or off.

now you can set clock and shortcuts.

If you mean lock screen notifications. Many notifications are App specific.

open settings

sounds and notifications

scroll down to Application notifications

chose which apps to block, and which to make priority.
