For the past month or so, I keep receiving old emails that I have deleted in the past. This only occurs on my Samsung Galaxy III, not my home computer. Any suggestions?

I followed you suggestion. When I recreated the account, the same thing occurred. I received old emails dating back to 11/13.

are these coming in as new emails or do they have 11/13 dates?
have you selected to leave mail on server?

The emails do have their original dates received and I have selected for them to remain on the server.

if they remain on the server, they will be on the phone until deleted on the phone.

RetiredTrooper, Thank you for doing the above steps. Let me ask you something else. When you are deleting the emails are you deleting them from the phone or from your computer? Do you have any other e-mail accounts on your phone besides Comcast? If you do, are they having this issue at all? When you deleted the email account and added it back on did you add it as a POP3 or IMAP? I am eager to hear back from you!
Thanks,

As far as deleting emails, sometimes I delete from the phone first and then the computer. Sometimes I do the opposite. The only other email account is Gmail which does not have the same problem. When I reinstalled the email account, I did it as a POP3.

I have two Comcast accounts on the new email app from 4.3. One is a POP and the other is IMAP. I think it is the POP causing the problem. I have 4 other email accounts also – all IMAP. When I delete from the phone with the POP account, it is the phone only. I have to leave a copy on the server to access later from home. It is actually the email that you set this too. However, it’s not the recently deleted ones showing up it appears, but those from way back earlier this year which have either been marked read or deleted when I go directly to the Comcast.net site and delete old mail. All the email in my Comcast POP account is currently marked read, and earlier today it notified me that I had 12 unread messages, but found no unread on the phone and no unread on the Comcast.net web site.. So it’s not that. The accounts I use are 2 personal email addresses, 2 gmail accounts, and 3 Comcast accounts. 2 of 3 of the Comcast are POP, but only two are installed in the email client. I never had any problems with email before the update.
My wife also has the same S3 but still running 4.1.2 and has 1 Gmail and 1 POP Comcast on hers set the same as mine. No problems.
Your tech spent a lot of time on this the other day. We deleted the cache, that did not help. Then we deleted the data which required a re-entering of all accounts again. All where entered automatically using the defaults except the two personal accounts which have to be manually entered because there is no server for them, but use Google mail servers.
Thank you for taking the time to look into this. This update has been a miserable experience for me. I have told my wife and two daughters not to upgrade their S3s until these issues get resolved. I am the geek in the family (retired IT expert in all fields) and can’t stand being a help desk for them when I can’t figure out a solution. I don’t have the time to disassemble the code to figure out what got messed up like I did with my old Incredible. It really hummed along once the kinks were changed.

Thanks for the additional information RetiredTrooper. I would recommend performing a hard reset,http://vz.to/1bk6pIG. After the phone comes back up please test the e-mails again. Keep us updated with results.

Same problem since upgrade to 4.3. Get notifications that I have 12, 55, 112, etc emails. Go to email and find maybe one or two emails. Evidently 4.3 can't count the number of emails. and yes, upon the advice of VZW tech, did delete all date and cache in email apps. Then had to reinstall all the email accounts. Did not cure the problem. Though it seems upon investigation related to pop accounts such as Comcast uses. Even not leaving messages on server does not change this behavior. BTW there are too many problems with the VZW version of 4.3 to recommend it to anyone, including the latest have to have geeks. Even the world's best experts can't figure out the problems with this version. And after over three hours with VZW and Samsung support, they know very little. Good luck. Probably going to roll back to 4.1.2 - at least it worked. Although I do like the new email layout better.
