Phone constantly reboots after lollypop update

Since the update, 4 days ago, my Galaxy S4 reboots at a minimum of 6 times per day that I know of.  It happens in the middle of purchases, listening to music, browsing the web.  I'm suprised it hasn't rebooted while typing this message.  How do I fix this problem?

I would take it into a vz store and make them fix it or give you a new phone. Vz pushed the update on us. It won't let you not dl it. If you decline the dl, it will just harass you to schedule a time and so on. They broke it, they should fix it!

The best answers you'll get around here is to do a factory reset. In fact if you read a lot of suggestions from contributors on here they claim it's normal to have to do a complete reset after a upgrade. Thats BS and they know it.

KaetliR,

This is not how we want your S4 working. It should not be rebooting that often, especially on its own. Just a couple quick questions: When did your update come through? Did it start right after the update?

With the device acting this way I would recommend making sure it is backed up and try a factory reset. The reset can help out when glitching may occur after software updates roll out. You can always backup your S4 by using the Verizon Cloud app: http://vz.to/1cQ9M2W  Also these are the steps then on how to do a reset afterwards: http://vz.to/1Hiftn1

Keep us posted if you notice a difference.

Well it stopped rebooting; however, I lost app data even though I thought I had done a full backup.  Having to do a Factory Reset to upgrade your OS seems a bit extreme.  IMO.

When I updated my S4 to lollipop I did a factory reset before downloading the update. I did not reload my app data after the update, but reloaded my apps from the play store.  The phone works perfect. The FDR before the update is the real key to not developing problems.

My phone is doing the same thing. I did the update about four days ago, it started rebooting the next day. This afternoon, it went on an endless cycle of rebooting. I can't back anything up, I got it into safe mode once then it froze, I can't hook it up to the computer to manually copy files over. It's just a piece of junk that will reboot itself until the battery dies.

Any suggestions ?

Do you have any apps turned off in the app drawer.  If so turn them all back on and reboot the phone.

Started having the same problem a couple weeks after the update.  Finally it got so bad that I backed everything up and did the factory reset.  That has helped some, it's not rebooting a couple dozen times a day, but it has randomly rebooted at least two times today. Is the actual solution coming?  Please advise.  Thanks

My Note 4 started rebooting constantly after the security update just yesterday. It started last night and I did a factory reset right away. By the time I got my backed up apps and stuff uploaded, it was doing it again. First the data will shut off and I can't turn it back on...then it starts rebooting every few minutes. Won't stay on long enough now to do another factory reset. Pulled my battery and restarted so I could dump the system cache, cleaned the cache, and rebooted. Didn't help one iota...still reboots every few minutes. I have never had a lick of trouble with this phone since I bought it new until this last update...now it's not worth the time I'm spending writing this!!! I am one very pissed Verizon hater at this time and will be sure to make full mention of this bull on Facebook, Twitter, HLN, KOTA and every other person I meet on the street! You owe me a new phone!

That's how mine started, now it won't fully power on at all and won't go into safe mode. Back your stuff up right now and see if you can go back to the old software! If it's anything like mine, you literally have 24 hours lol

This happened to me too!  You need a new battery.  Promise. It totally fixed my phone!!!!!  When mine got into a bootloop, the only way to stop it was to plug it in.  Someone posted somewhere that my battery was probably bad and after putting a new battery in it has not rebooted once!!!!!
