Why do I have to restart my phone to get mobile data to work? Turning WiFi off doesn't trigger the switch.

Your mobile data should work at all times DJBadgers so long as there's no setting preventing its access. I welcome the opportunity to address your inquiry. I just need a few details first. How long has this been incurring on your device? Does your 4G signal show consistently on your device? Have you restricted background data for any of the applications on your device? Let us know. We're here to help.

It has been happening for a while. I just recently was told about these
forums so I thought I’d look for the answer here. I couldn’t find it so I
posted my own question.

DJBadgers, that is a major concern to me. We should have an easy move from w-fi to cellular network. When this stated to happen, do you remember if there was any changes to the device (software update or any new 3rd party applications being downloaded)? Any kind of physical or liquid damage to the phone? If you travel away from wi-fi connection does it not pull up any service at all? Please keep us posted.

Hi Kevin.
So, twice yesterday, my phone flashed, and then the red Verizon screen came
up. I thought nothing of it. Then, when I left work yesterday, the phone
automatically switched from WiFi to mobile data when I was on the way to my
car and the ride home. Am I right in assuming that someone on your end did
some investigating and fixed something? I think that issue might be fixed.
I have tried a few 3rd party apps for texting to figure out how to get
group texts and pictures when I’m on WiFi because it wasn’t happening on
Messages+ or the Samsung text app. However, none of them seemed to work
like that (without asking EVERYONE to also get the app) so I uninstalled
them within a day or two. I went back to Messages+ because it is my
favorite of the texting apps.
Thanks.
Dan

Mine has been doing this since the update around the first of December, the one that brought wifi calling. I have posted here numerous times and there has been nothing to fix this yet. I have also contacted Samsung support and they tell me they have not had anyone report this problem other than myself. They want me to send my phone to them which takes approx. 2 weeks. I have 3 phones on my plan and all 3 are doing this. I have argued back and forth with Samsung that there is no way 3 phones all start doing the same thing after the same update and it not be the update that caused this. I have done a factory reset, wipe cache, etc. and nothing fixes this. I have a couple of friends that are having the same issue.
