Post-Update to Marshmallow 6.0.1, My Samsung Galaxy S6 barely works at all

Hello,

My phone is little more than an expensive paperweight at this point, after allowing update of operating system to Marshmallow 6.0.1. The phone hangs (freezes), for 2-3 seconds at a time, about every 10-15 seconds. Games are no longer playable. The phone automatically reboots itself about every 15 minutes, even when on the phone. It reboots even when I'm not using it all!

Also, a series of apps no longer work properly. Sending email via Gmail requires that I close Gmail and reopen it. I cannot receive text messages via Message+, and sending them takes anywhere from 2h to never-actually-gets-sent. Messages, the other text messaging app, will not load whatsoever. I cannot have more than 2 apps open at a time or the phone will freeze and reboot itself.

I have tried rebooting and clearing the cache partition. It changed nothing.

Please help. This system upgrade is absolutely terrible.

I have the same issues!!!

But the phone doesn't even turn back on after shutting itself down. I have to hold down the power key and volume down buttons for the start, and then choose normal boot-up option. I am not even using too many apps or anything.

The Marshmallow update just messed the functionality completely for Galaxy S6!!!

We don't want the update to cause any problems, shafer38. Does freezing occur with apps? Since you have mentioned issues with apps, have you confirmed that all apps are up to date? If apps are up to date, can you go to Settings>Applications>Application Manager>More>Reset App preferences.

Similar problems here after updating to Marshmallow – freezing, random reboots, phone pretty much useless.

Solution I found (and this did work flawlessly, no more problems) is to boot into Safe Mode (Power off phone, then simultaneously hold power and down volume keys.  When boot menu appears use volume key to select Safe Mode, then press Home Button.)  When phone boots up go to Settings > Battery > More > “Optimize battery usage”.  Then select all Apps. Turn off Optimize for everything.

Reboot phone.

If this works and you want to try to figure out which app(s) are causing a conflict you can always re-enable optimization for apps, doing a group (not all) at a time and seeing what happens.  Hope this helps.

Is there going to be an update to fix these issues? Otherwise, how do I get back to the previous version? I had no problems until 6.0.1. My phone freezes randomly. This upgrade sucks.

We want you to love your phone and I'm here to help. Regrettably, the device can not be reverted to a previous software version. Let's look into this. What specific issues are you experiencing?
